After the lovely welcome yesterday and purchasing my new bit of kit I was so excited. Made if through the evening (no wine, just in case. No vodka either, just in case ) Got to bed, and had a jolly good vape whilst reading. Amazingly, slept like the proverbial baby! So pleased with myself, got past the morning, past lunch, almost up to afternoon tea and then...23 hours 37 minutes into my first full ciggie free day and I broke! I was trying to write - typically a really bad many-fag time for me and well...Bit miffed with myself, but hey, it's another day, another 24 hours to get through and I will get that golden time sorted - I will! To be very honest, I never really expected to kick the ciggies totally in one fell swoop and did think that if I could just get down to 5 a day for the first few days, then that would be great. We'll see. Onwards and upwards

I wouldn't worry about it, my wife and I are only 10 days or so in. As soon as I got my kit I was away and not had aciggie since. On the other hand my wife couldn't get away with the origami juice and continued to smoke for a few days until, I got some alternative juice, lower strength and different vg/ pg ratio. On day one of new juice sh had 3 circa retted, day two 1 cig give and then none since. Previously we both smoked around 25a day. Everyone is different, how many do you normally smoke a day. You should concentrate on how many you don't smoke not how many you do. Keep at it, you'll get there.

You sound as if you are doing very well. Congratulations!

Agree with everybody else. No need to worry at all. Just take your time and when your ready stop. Some people never stop and just carry on having both. Sent from my Galaxy Note 2

Oh, thanks everyone. I think I should be Super-woman sometimes. I'm very impatient and want everything NOW or preferably yesterday I have been smoking for over thirty years - probably about 20/25 a day and I suppose I'm looking for a miracle. When I've tried to give up before, I've always had to give up drinking and then go on diet too, which isn't really happy bunny living, is it? Anyway, I'm invigorated by your kind comments and I'll see how it goes for the next 24 hours. I figured one day at a time would be my best bet.

that's the spirit and if you have a particularly bad day, just start over the next day. It's not a race, go at your own pace!

Just think of all those ones you've not smoked already though tigerlilly. Took me a good couple of weeks to be totally ciggie free and I thought I did quite well as I loved to smoke . . . and did so with great passion and commitment for 36 years. To go 3 hours without a cigarette, let alone 3+ years was the equivalent of scaling Everest for me. . . Celebrate what you have achieved, not what you haven't.

Agree wholeheartedly with everyone else... if you have gone 23+ hours without a ciggie, that's over a pack that you haven't smoked... if you do the same tomorrow, you've already saved £15... the odd one or two whilst you are getting used to your set up and finding the right juices for you don't matter... you're on the right track and should be very proud of that pack of stinkies that you haven't smoked!

Thank you again for your support and encouragement - made me feel that I can do this. It's lovely to be able to chat to peeps that have been here, done that, and well, don't need to wear the T-Shirt anymore. This is different for me; my husband gave up the 'stinkies' - love that - about 8 years ago with no help whatsoever. And as much as I love him dearly, I do sometimes get the "Well, I did, it. So can you!" But like Perpetua, I love smoking - I link it with happy, good, times and it wasn't like that for my husband. So having you guys n gals on here is fantastic. Thank you - and i apologise now if I bend your ears a bit, or get on your pip! (I' promise I'll try not to )

Days!!!! Days!!!! My gawd tigerlilly, it took me a month to go from ciggies to 100% vaping!! And yes, even when I was vaping I loved to stand really close to someone who was smoking just to get the odd whiff of a newly lit fag and I could smell someone smoking a hundred yards away! They don't bother me so much now and I would rather not be in a smoker's company. So give it time. We have all been through the smoking/vaping change-over. Let it take its course and whether you do it in days, weeks, months or years, it matters not one whit. You'll get there in the end.

Also tigerlilly, cigarettes have over 2,500 chemicals in them. E-cigs have 4. Some of the chemicals in cigarettes, apart from nicotine, are addictive which is why some folks can stop smoking easily while others, addicted to these other chemicals, cannot stop. This is also true when some people find the change to e-cigs difficult. They are not getting their usual top up of these other addictions. So just take your time with the change over. It will come in its own good time.
