My two lads have got dogs and cats, and I'm gobsmacked when they tell me what the vet's bills are. It must be one of the most highly paid professions around. ???

Indeed, the cost of Vets for the most basic treatment is outrageous!

I think it's because they know most people would rather lose their OH than their pet. Emotional blackmail... can I wind the clock back 50 years and choose another career path! ???

I had a good experience with our vet, picked our kitten up from the house, spayed her, worming tablets and letter for breeder, brought back to our house. £100 Well impressed.

Our kitten burst her stitches after she was done, we took her to the emergency vets and got charged well over £100 to have the wound stapled and some antibiotics. A week later she pulled one of the staples out when we took the collar off to feed her - this time we went to our usual vets, he was so disappointed with the shoddy work at the emergency vets had done he corrected it and didn't charge us.
Nice to know there are some decent folks out there still!

Conversely my last dog cost £10k in vet bills and recuperation My Sammy's bills came in, in the region of £5,500 . . . I'd have sold the car, anything to meet the cost of his treatment if it had been necessary. Although the cost of veterinary treatment, is on the whole scandalous and I'm sure puts some folk off seeking attention for their pets.

Must say, we have always had pet insurance to cover the odd emergency and other costs are budgeted for in the monthly expenditure. saves all the worry about having a massive unexpected bill. OK so not the cheapest option, but the dogs health is well worth it. IMO.
