yes I too wished that those who make the rules would first participate in one of the forums - rather than making decisions without any knowledge - because they already have proven that they don't have a clue

Get so annoyed with the negativity ! The local council my OH works for has now banned ecigs in and around the outside of the building same as cigarettes due to ' not enough research and may be harmful ' geez ! And as he is a hardened smoker he's criticizing me and my vaping !!! God it gets me mad !!!

I know most of you have heard my story before - many times But I want to add it to this thread. I was a very heavy smoker for over 30 years - averaged 50 a day My breathing was awful & I often came down with chest infections. Most nights I would wake up in the middle of the night gasping for breath. I'd tried everything else to either give up or at least cut down but would end up crawling up the walls & tearing my hair out with the stress of trying to do so. Then, coming up to 6 years ago I bought my first e-cig. Even though it was a pretty crappy ciggie lookalike, I instantly cut down drastically. Have to admit that it took me a while to give up the last 2 a day though. However, even from the start of just cutting down, my breathing quickly improved & no more chest infections. And now, I can take wonderful deep breaths without coughing at all

Thirty years a smoker and I loved it. Filter tips for half of that and roughly an ounce of baccy per day for the remainder.
Four days after my first cigalike I stopped using tobacco. Within a week of using the cigalike I graduated to my beloved Riva 1100 kit and haven’t looked back.
Eleven months down the road without once wanting tobacco. Still can’t believe it.
Extract of a recent conversation with my GP at an annual check up;
Dr. - Still smoking? Me - Yes and no. Electronic cigarettes and then into vaping. Dr. - Aren’t they marvelous? Me - (A rather stunned) Yes. Dr. - Tar is the killer. Nicotine is no more harmful than caffeine.
Dr., to my shock, writes in my record I’m now a non-smoker.
Apologies for any spelling and grammar mistakes. It’s late and I’m old.

I was speaking to a friends teenage daughter the other night, she thinks vaping is shit, we're all nerds and she's just going to continue smoking.
Yep, teenagers definitely will take up vaping, I'm convinced now ???

There will be fads when teenagers take to vaping but they probably won't last because vaping isn't cool. Even a Twist with a mini Protank in your mouth looks pretty ungainly, the bigger stuff...

I was a 20-25 cigs a day smoker, been smoking since i was 14-15 and i am now 35, the minute i turned to vaping i stopped smoking completely. never touched a fag again.... it was hard for the first week, got the urges/cravings but they soon passed fast, and i vaped away like a mini train and it got me through the super cravings for the first month... and now i hardly get them and if they come they go just as fast. been smoking free, check sig what a difference, i no longer cough at all in a morning or at night infact i cant remember the last time i coughed due to smoking. i dont smell anymore due to the stinkys my rooms/house does not smell anymore, i no longer have nicotine fingers lol or yellow walls due to nicotine and my smell and taste has returned and now i cant stand being in the same room or area with smokers.... you know one thing that pisses me off our work class vapeing the same as smoking when we have to vape we have to vape in the same area as smokers do so bloody annoying smelling all those stinkies also being a none smoker now i can smell people that smoke from a mile away lol

I smoked 30 - 40 Marlboro a day for 25 years and was no fun to be around any time I attempted to quit. I'd get ridiculously ill at least 3 or 4 times a year, but that didn't stop me. I couldn't afford to carry on paying the price of the cigs, but the NRT dished out by the NHS didn't work and I didn't know what else to do until I stumbled across e-cigs.
AAE-C and its members have been a mahooooosive help keeping me off the smokes and guiding me towards decent gear. I haven't touched a cigarette in 5 months and 17 days and have no interest in going back to them now which is a small miracle. When my GP asked if I'd given up yet, I showed her my e-cig. She was very supportive and changed my status to non-smoker. As an added bonus, I've not been ill since quitting either which is another small miracle. I'd been bracing myself for the yearly chest infection that hits around Christmas and New Year's but it never happened. First healthy holiday season in 25 years!
NRT is a useless waste of the NHS's money, but someone in NHS would have to admit they were wrong for that fact to come out. Never going to happen. Pity. They could use that money to help struggling hospital wards around the country instead of throwing it out the window.

Unfortunately E cigs have been given bad publicity , especially with the Welsh proposed ban in public places . How they came to this decision is of course their prerogative . I can't help thinking that a lot of pressure is being placed on the government and other bodies to ban e cigs , or limit their use , by the ' Big Pharmaceutical ' companies who are loosing £' s lots as their products are not being used , post e cigs , to help people stop smoking . ( I am using my Riva as I write this )
To those reading this that are contemplating giving up stinkies , do it and start vaping . Give it a go . Not only will you be better of financially , you will be healthier as well . I am currently visiting / spending as much time as I can with my 93 year old mother who is dying with lung cancer . Trust me , you don't want to go there , far from pleasant .
