I've given up on TV...

I'm having receptions problems with my aerial, facing trees,and everything is pixelated on the Freeview channels. So I thought about Freesat where the dish is facing the opposite way, into open air, so should be a good signal.

Have therefore resarched installers, and unfortunately Sky seemed the best offer. There is no way I would pay for a package for a load of rubbish, but I'm concerned that if I apply for their 'one off' payment for Freesat I'll just get bombarded with Sky offers, broadband, phone etc.

I just want the Freeview channels and a decent reception. Anyone with any experience of this.?

I find freeview boxes differ from one to the next,could it just be yours is a bit shit?

Don't know if you can get Virgin in your area but it's all i use and it's great, satellite dishes do tend to give problems when bad weather kicks in (plus they are ugly mofo's)

we hardly watch TV - but we have now fibre optic and can watch the very occasional program just on the computer ( we might as well soon sell our telly - lol )

Haven't got a box, it's a Sharp with 'built in' freeview.

Sharp, says it all really, I think there's a chance that could be part of the problem going by their previous gadgets. I would see if you can maybe borrow a freeview box and plug it up, just to see if it does work better.

Have had a great night... no TV.. just Queen, Abba & Meatloaf on the PC, at full blast. If there's a problem, I guess someone will tell me. But, for now, the outside world doesn't exist.

We have freesat, but the dish was already here when we moved in.

There might be local independent installers in your area that will do a better price than sky - worth a look.

Just for info Raffles TV wise i have over 6 years never had a problem with Virgin, internet side maybe around 5 problems in 6 years, before i had virgin i had Sky and TV wise reception was a lot worse in the time i had it but that was quite sometime ago and maybe things have moved on.

Raffles I've got SKY and never had a problem. I can't get Virgin where I live so I have no choice really because there are certain channels that I like to watch which aren't available on the free thingies. You don't have to have everything with them but it's the same with all these companies - you get bombarded with unwanted emails for which there is a delete button! It all depends what you want to watch...

I've decided I do not need TV... I'll put up with what I've got at the moment.

All the programmes are crap, and I mean ALL the progammes.

I only like to keep in touch with the news... and that is so biased in some cases.

I think I'll just keep on living my life... to the best of my ability!
