I've edited to include some general advice. Smokymizers can sometimes be a bit problematic. I've collated a few tips to help new users minimise any leaking or gurgling issues.. Because when a CE3 works, it works really well! An important thing to be aware of is the fact that a CE3 utilises vacuum principles to regulate its wicking process. Firstly, imagine a drinking straw.. You can suspend liquid in it by placing a finger over the top of it. If you remove your finger, the contents will leak out the bottom. The bung at the top of the CE3 has the same function as a finger over that straw.. The CE3 has an area of low air pressure (vacuum) between the bung and the surface of the e liquid, this prevents e liquid from consistently dribbling down the wick or out through the vent hole. The second half of the regulated wicking process shares the same principle as momentarily removing your finger from the top of the straw.. It's provided by a small vent hole in the bottom of the CE3. Air enters the CE3's fluid chamber via this hole. It then bubbles to the surface of the e liquid to momentarily equalise the air pressure, allowing the e liquid level to drop & re-wick. So to maintain the vacuum and to prevent leakages.. -Try to keep your CE3 upright. -Try not to leave your CE3 with a very low e liquid level. -Ensure that the bung is dry, undamaged & firmly pressed in so it forms a good and lasting seal. A cocktail stick can be used as a good replacement. Gurgling is usually caused by a build up of condensation within the air pipe and /or bung chamber. However, sometimes e liquid can be drawn into the air pipe by sucking too hard or by a leak (see above). You can minimise/prevent gurgling.. -Blow through air pipe immediately after filling or whenever necessary. -Regularly dry out bung chamber with kitchen towel, ear buds or place a small amount of carto wadding inside the chamber (do not restrict air flow). -Use a freshly charged battery. Gurgling and leaking problems can occur as a result of bleeding whilst filling. Filling a CE3 can be a messy process due to the vacuum not being present (no bung). A condom thingy can be placed over the battery end to prevent a lot of leakage (see Blakeys post below) but the threaded compartment may still contain some e liquid. My solution to navigate around these issues was to bottom fill using a tapered syringe tip. it also has the benefits of being a lot quicker. Since then the spiky thing has entered the market and may do the same job in theory (untested). Tapered syringe tips are cheap & widely available if you want to give it a try. 1. Fill tapered syringe or spiky thing. 2. Wedge tapered syringe tip or spiky thing into filling hole (must be a good fit to create seal). 3. Hold CE3 vertically with battery end at top. 4. Fill from beneath (the displaced air shoots out of the battery end. Battery end remains dry). 5. Quickly replace (dried) bung with a good pair of tweezers to restore vacuum and hey presto not a drop of leakage.

Or you could simply put the condom on the battery end, remove the little plug, when inserting the needle make sure you leave enough room around the needle for the air to escape and inject till full. replace bung, remove condom and insert drip tip. Then the important bit, place battery end into a tissue and blow through the drip tip to clean out the tubes- job done! Try it- works every time

I have found whilst using the Tapered Tip method that the battery end does not get wet and the air tubes remain clear. Due to the high pressures involved, the e-liquid enters the Smokeymizer chamber in the form of a fine mist. The mist is sprayed in a wide arc and hits the side wall of the Smokeymizer.
In step 6, I have specified to seal the battery end whilst replacing the plug. I have found this an unnecessary step. Instead the Smokeymizer can be placed directly onto the battery before replacing the plug and inserting the end cap or drip tip.
There isn't a single drop of mess.. Not even around the filling hole.

It's ever so easy Hissie, just sounds complicated - like a lot of our vaping stuff does until you've had a couple of go's.

I've had very mixed experiences with the Smokeymiser's Sue . . . ranging from the blooming fantastic, down to the dreadful straight in the bin.
Wouldn't get them again.

I haven't got any of those spikey things

No you top fill them Hissie, so you'll need a syringe/needle to do that.

Well after a bit of a faff on, I managed to fill a smokeymiser.
Think I'm defo going to need a spikey thing, as it's a bit messy using a syringe. Where will I get a spikey thing & do they fit on any size juice bottle?
Also, do people fill them right to the top?

Not sure whether it's a learning curve, but I filled the smokeymiser probably half way following the method on here, then later filled it about half way again.
Filling with the battery end up, I found the liquid ran down the out side of the syringe & the end where the drip goes was quite wet with juice. All in all wasted juice.
Can the smokey be filled battery end down?

I fill it battery-end down, holding the Smoky at an angle. I don't get much mess except when the plunger sticks and then releases all of a sudden and squirts juice in under pressure - and it floods out over the top. I need a new syringe. It's replacing the bung that I get tangled up in, although I think I've got the knack now - with the Smoky still held at an angle, lay the bung on it's side in line with the hole and push it in with tweezers. I may have a go with the other filling methods above but it's doing my head in just trying to read and take it in ??? Nightie

I've given up on the smokeymisers. Too messy, too faffy & no throat hit > Think I'll just stick with DC cartos.
