I think I completely understand what you meant Nana & I agree that it does seem that folks that where rolling are having a higher percentage success rate with the e-cig than those that smoked ready made.

Ohh, Yes, sorry, I wasn't suggesting doing both (ready-mades and rollies) but to try roll-ups instead of ready-mades.... So sorry - never intended to encourage more smoking Nana, I knew what you meant, think it might work too, and actually have decided to try to REPLACE my silkcuts with rollies. I'm going to get my tobacco & rizlas tomorrow. Then will try the rollie / vape combo! Probably take up so much time I won't meet my work deadlines - lol It will take the 'ease' out of smoking without psychologically being totally deprived of tobacco - might be easier to make the transition to full time vaper then. Certainly worth a try. Thank you. Don't worry Scylla not going to be doing rollies on top of silkcut & e cigs. Maybe this is the way forward for me - give it a go - hey "Never say die"

one thing imo with rollies is you need to hand roll, those machines use far to much baccy and to me there too tight. just my 2 bobs worth but dont try to roll them thick, roll them very skinny with a very small amount of baccy, you can get 3 hand rollies for one machine rollie, thats not being mean you just dont need that amount of baccy. raggy..............

Ahhh yes Scylla I know you meant exactly the same thing - that it would need to be rollies instead of branded cigs - which is also what Nana meant. Everyone was singing from the same hymn sheet, just some were descant & some tenor Makes the song more beautiful Thanks for the tips Raggy mmmmm "M chemical" ?? -interesting.

Blimey, Lolli, What poetry...... Beautifully put. Scylla, I thought you meant the same and sorry if it came across that I didn't - these non-smoking days I sing in descant whereas previously it was tenor......... Oh, and best of luck with the hand rolling, Lolli.

Lolli - I've remembered ! the chemicals I was thinking of are MAOI's : - What are MAOIs and what is their significance in smoking? Brain chemistry is a complex of of balanced systems. Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) role is to inhibit the removal of monoamines, of which dopamine is one, prolonging the effect of the monoamines. As such these chemicals are sometimes used as anti-depressant drugs; predictably, some dependence is created (cessation causes withdrawal symptoms). Hence, MAOIs act in synergy with nicotine to enhance its effect by keeping dopamine levels higher for longer.
"Among the different compounds contained in tobacco smoke, monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOI) have recently been the focus of a particular interest (Berlin and Anthenelli, 2001). Monoamines are neurotransmitters found in the central nervous system. They are involved in sending signals to the brain which regulate sleep, arousal and pleasure ("Dopamine"). The three main monoamines studied by researchers are dopamine (DA), norepinephrine and serotonin. Monoamine oxidase is one enzyme responsible for the degradation of the monoamines. MAOIs are molecules that inhibit monoamine oxidase, and as a result increase the levels of monoamines found in the brain. According to newly developed research, a synergy between nicotine and MAOIs could be of importance for tobacco addiction to set up (Berlin and Anthenelli, 2001). Then, the association between nicotine and MAOI seems to be an appropriate model to study mechanisms underlying tobacco addiction."

Thanks Nana Morning all Bought the golden virginia tobacco & the papers from the little shop down the road. I've done 8 so far, the first 3 looked ridiculous! Smoked 4, they were finished in seconds, 2 kept going out. Maybe I should make them a bit fatter The tobacco seems very lumpy, damp, sticky - which surprised me - I expected it to be more 'crumbly' It's quite 'gunky' isn't it I can see what you all mean about 'faffing about' - it IS a faff !! Can also see though, that it will, sort of, be a relief to pick up the e cig - as it seems to me, to be less faff I'm surrounded in bits of tobacco fallout! so am going to have a bit of a clean up now & a vape!!! (Not ready yet to get rid of all the duty frees in the cupboard!) Early days yet - be fab if it helps tho' & satisfies the tobacco crave, without the instant 'availability' (can see it might well help with the 'transition thing', for those that struggle!

Got to admit, I don't fancy it either. But I'm guessing you are thinking of snuff? Snus, you put under your tongue.
