First impressions

Hi everyone,

Received my 510 and other items from Cloud 9 and have started vaping tonight.

Battery fully charged,attached atty,attached 18mg pre-filled Marlboroug cart.

Everything seems to be working okay but not much vapour and the Marlborough tastes like burnt toffee,yuk.

Fortunately I also ordered menthol which seems to smell nice in the bottle so hopefully tomorrow will be a better day lol.

Have not smoked an analogue for 5 hrs but have to say I am tempted.

Great news that you're up and running Ken. I think you'll find it better when you try using the liquid rather than a prefilled cart. You'll get a much better hit, vape and the feeling of 'the real thing.'

Ken, not a great start, but you have got going. Step 1 complete. Well done.

It does take a bit of playing around with juices and the equipment before you hit the right note. The arrival of my Riva coincided with some juices from James Paradise. I had five to sample. Two not so keen, but three I liked, one in particular. L and B, which is a popular one amongst peeps in here. However, what I have learned is that rather than discard a juice, you can actually mix something else in it - another juice. Thus today I have been vaping L and B mixed with Caramel apple pie. The caramel one tastes lovely but has no vape to speak of. Sounds an odd combination, but is lovely. Very good vaping and great taste. My kitchen surface looks a bit like a chemistry lab. But it has taken me three weeks now to really decide what I like, what works etc. Did you get your tobacco juice/carts from James? I think most people here do rate his juices above many others. Very pleased to hear you have got your starter kit Ken

As Dee says, you will find a big improvement when you start using the e-liquid. Plus, some atomisers take a while to kick in & get going properly.

I'm 99.9% certain that Lisa (cloud 9) just sells Dekang juices. For the price, these are more than vapable but not always the strongest flavoured juices. They are mainly based on PG, so adding some glycerine will give you a lot more vapour. Not sure how easily available vegetable glycerine is in Greece though?

Ken, there's nothing to stop you dripping a drop or 2 of menthol onto the cart now, in fact the burnt taste could well be because there's not enough juice in the cart to keep the attie wet...

or 2 drops onto the attie itself, no more tho, in case you flood it...

Much better vape with the drip method I think plus the menthol juice is nice and tastes stronger.

The cart is wet though Scylla in fact I thought there was too much in it as it was pooled when I opened it.

I have a few teething problems too Ken. I'm new to this too & didn't even dare try to vape till this evening.

I bought the Riva too but mine came with empty carts. I've found so far that taking the filling out of the cart, dropping about 6 - 7 drops in the cart, then replacing the filling. Put 2-3 drops on top of the filling & I've been good to go.

I do need more juice to try and am thinking about getting some samples from Liberty Flights. I saw a review on youtube that recommended their menthol blend.

Ken, pooled is good But it's not just about how wet the cart is. The consistency/flavour of the juice makes so much difference

I did that with the blue stuff I just obtained. It works great with a fresh fill but topping up is a failure and I end up reverting to dripping I just do not have the knack with stuffing

Judicious dripping works great but only a couple of drops at a time is safe (in a standard 901 atty), so it has to be done very frequently. Some atties are more easily flooded than others, some are killed stone dead with one drip
