I'm currently on holiday in the Philippines. A family member has asked for advice on getting her dad off the stinkies.
I'm going to send her some gear I've got at home that I'm not using, a Vamo V6, Naturevape Midi Pro and an Aerotank mega on sale in the classifieds, along with a few bottles of liquid. He smokes more than a pack a day so I'm guessing 18mg and 50/50 would be best to start with.
My main concern is what he can do when the coils eventually burn out. He will need to be self sufficient so cost is an issue. Obviously buying Naturevape coils from the UK is not an option so can they easily be re-coiled and what with? Are the FastTech Kanger coils any good?
Is there an alternative to these to tanks, available in the Philippines or from FT. The NV and Aerotank are my favourites so I'm just going with what I know but I'm open to suggestions.
I gather there's a significant vaping scene in the Philippines but it seems to be centred on mechs and rebuildables, which are probably not advisable at this stage.
I realise a UK forum is probably not the best place to ask but The only dedicated forum I can find over here is utterly useless with no significant activity in the last 6 months.
Any general advice on getting someone converted would be appreciated.

You can buy genuine manger coils really cheaply on fast tech and get authentic ones. You could get him ten probably for a tenner or less. Also you could teach him how to recoil and wick them if you know how.
I think the lkanger bcc coils fit the nv at toes but not used mc so wait for someone who uses then to confirm

Oh and the nv coils are micro oils so can be dry burned several times then rewicked with cotton wool as that's what they come with

Perhaps some 24mg juice might be an idea if he smokes that much?

Also spare batteries and a decent charger. FT also do lots of cheap juice.

I think the biggest obstacle is getting him onto vaping in the first place.
Last time I was in Manila, 2 and a half years ago, there were plenty of places to buy cheep juice over the counter. Lots of places in the older malls to buy kit. I know some of the older Malls have been knocked down now, but I'm sure there are still plenty of places out there for him to get kit from. I'm sure things have changed significantly since I was there.
The best thing is to get him to a vaping shop and set him up with some kit that is locally recognised. There is no point trying to get him to use things that over complicate what's going on, if he can build a relationship with his shop, they will make sure he is sorted.
There isn't really any complication with mech's and drippers - it's the simplest setup you can have. I last coiled my atomic 4 months ago and change the cotton wick once per month if not less. It's the only atty I use day in and out. If he gets it all from a shop there, he will be able to go in and get them to re coil his atty for next to nothing.
And as BrenD suggested, 24mg would be better for him to start with - but then what he settles on depends on how he ends up vaping - if he gets into blowing clouds constantly, 12 or 6 will be better.

Yes a1laserboy, I think you're right. The motivation is coming from his daughter. I'm not sure how willing he is at this stage, but having some gear that works well may be enough for the bug to bite him.
Unfortunately they live in Bohol, which is a long way from Manila, both geographically and culturally, and I think Vape shops are a bit thin on the ground out in the sticks.

It's not going to be easy finding vape shops outside of Manila HaroldTheBarrel. I was there last May and was chatting to a Filipina who's married to an English guy, she moved back there for financial reasons, when in UK she started vaping. This lady wanted to get off the cigs again and can't find anywhere to buy vaping supplies, except Manila. Btw the lady in question lives in SW of the country, nothing even in Cebu or Zamboanga. Good luck with the search, if you find somewhere, please let me know as I'm going back again in May

Yes, thanks. I will give them this sort of information when I send the gear. They're both engineers so this stuff should be child's play

Ah just seen your in Bohol. I think it's unlikely you'll find any vape stores there to be honest. You could try the Island City Mall in Tagbilaran City, i think that would be the obvious place to look in that area. Failing that, I think Cebu would be the nearest place that you will find good quality vape gear and juice. My recommendation would be Extreme Vape at tha APM shopping mall in Cebu City, they have everything you could imagine there and some amazing juices too.
