No I havent lairey, she was very unsure about it so I cancelled my order OK, will give her a couple of days to come back to me, but if it isn't going to ship this week, I'm cancelling mine too. I have a silver one you can have from focal...was offered in the charity thread but can offer up something else if that happens. Has a couple of blemishes and marks to the finish, was how it came, never/didn't bother me.... if you want it make me a cheeky offer via PM with your address...

For those that are interested:
In addition to buying a DNA40 VF clone from 3FVape I also ordered a Hana Modz DNA40 clone a few days later. I asked if the Hana used the same board as the VF clone and was told it used a different board, a Smocare board. On power-up the display shows "Smocare" rather than "KX-40D" but I have not been able to find a difference in the operation after a week's use (including showing the "limited" watts if you let go of the fire button when TC is active and watts are being displayed). Functionally they appear to work identically, although it's hard to check details on the display because I can't read the display as well on the Hana when vaping.
Quality wise it's a good clone but the buttons are spongy rather than clicky, probably the most annoying aspect for me. They still click but the feeling is rubbery getting to the point where they click. Also, the charge indicator LED is in a strange place, being underneath the micro-USB connection. The wiring looks neat enough and it isn't full of hot glue like some.
I have used this with a Magma, basically vaping from fully saturated to barely any vapour being produced with no taste of burned cotton and still vapable (is that a word?). On opening it up I found the cotton to be white and dry, almost bleached. Looking at the cotton where it goes through the coil there was a small light brown mark under the top of one wrap only. Seeing as the DNA40 TC uses average temperature I'm assuming this was a hot spot on the coil. I was using what has become my go-to coil, 30ga Ø3mm twisted nickel with standard spacing, coming out at 0.11? after the refinement period (initially 0.12?).

I notice this thread has been quiet for days now. Is it because everyone has their DNA40 clone and is satisfied, or are people finding that TC is not living up to the hype?

From my point of view, it does all it should do and I`m happy with it. But the hype has been way over the top in my opinion. People will disagree with me, but from my use and understanding of the operation, all this really saves you is getting burnt hits and burnt cotton, which it does extremely well imho. I like the flask variation for the twin batteries and the build quality and what they are selling for is a bargain.

Vapourising juice at a constant limited temperature has been an eye opener for me. At different temperatures - the juice tastes completely different. I have found this with all juices, with varying extent to how much its effect is. Some juices I get a far batter taste not taking them over 390 degrees. Some juices come to life over 420 degrees. Its been fun playing around and finding out which ones do what

Do you have temperature protection/control showing all they time Tom ? Yes it`s been fun messing about with it all. All I get from 390 degrees is a weak vape. The flavour may be a little different but the vape is too weak for me to be satisfying and I am not by any means a cloud chaser. We are all different and I am glad you are enjoying it. I`m enjoying it too

I`m enjoying it too Yeh if I'm nickel mode I'm pretty much always being limited. Always 40w. Whilst I suppose in this way it isn't so much temperature limiting as much as it is a temperature setting - its only in drippers I seem to not be constantly limited.

Me too so I just wind it up to 450 ish for the dripper (which is my main atty). There are so many variables involved, closed coil, open coil, tighter wick, wick material, ambient temperature etc etc. They are all going to effect the juice feed and demand and so affect when the temp control is going to come in. I think the only true temp control would be a sensor independant of the coil resistance (maybe built in to the atty) or within the wicking material. Now that would be more independant. There`s no technical reason why it cant be done in that way, especially as it should be possible to totally avoid burnt wicks. To me it is more like a thermostat at the moment and a bit crude, the 10 degree jumps are too much in my opinion.

Agree, monitoring the temp with mathematics via the heat source is never going to be accurate.
