Just seen this on TV, BBC breakfast news,, seems that over a dozen uk adoption regions class 'vaping' the same as smoking !!!! Wtf ?????? What planet are they on ? Although , in their defence, when you google 'vaping' you are bombarded with images and videos of people blowing huge clouds of vapour everywhere ! Don't think I'd want my kids in that environment either

With all the anti-vaping propaganda out there, and the SAD headlines they read in the morning courtesy of scare-mongering press articles it's no wonder things like this happen.
The word FOR e-cigs is getting stronger, but after all the crap they've been reading it's going to take a while for the truth to sink in. Remember it's not that long ago the were reading that 'smoking' e-cigarettes was MORE dangerous than tobacco.
When the truth does come out, and gets accepted by the public in general, how many people are going to receive apologies? None of them!!!
Sadly, it's already too late for this unfortunate couple. But I wish them the best of luck when policies such as this get reversed.

And they wonder why so many children are waiting to be adopted! ^^^This, it's not like they can afford to be picky with the decreasing number of people prepared to adopt.

I think vapers are sometimes as blinkered as the antis although each side has a very different agenda. Those in the middle tend to go with the view the media peddle greatest so it's no real surprise. We only like to hear and see the good stuff, a bit like Arsene Wenger, apologies to any gunners

I read the article this morning and I can't say I'm surprised TBH. Adoption agencies seem to put a never ending series of obstacles in the way of ordinary decent people trying to do the right thing by children without a stable home life. It's a wonder anyone opts for adopting kids considering all the BLX they have to endure.

another crazy decision, but all heading in the direction of trying to get vaping classed the same as smoking, hence tax raising !
They dont give a hoot that it's far better than smoking, our politicians will be pulling strings behind the scenes, mark my words.

We have a general election in April, we can at least talk to our MP's and maybe make some sort of impact.
Mind you IMO the last person to enter the house of parliament with honest intent was Guy Fawkes!

My wife and I looked into adoption at the end of last year and we already knew of a couple that have adopted , so we knew what we were letting ourselves in for , BUT , unless you are in that boat you don't realise the half of it.
The amount of red tape and political correctness that is involved is truly mind blowing , I think that Mother Teresa would find it difficult to adopt in the UK.
Now onto the vaping side of things. We were told ( at the time ) that because I hadn't given up smoking for more than a year , that we couldn't adopt a child under 3 or 5 , I can't remember off hand. Then when I asked about a vaping policy , the lady that I spoke to didn't know anything AND although we have asked many times about a vaping policy , we STILL haven't had an answer at all.
As others have mentioned , this is totally ridiculous and so out of date.I don't know why the adoption agency don't just say that unless you are staying at home 24/7 and don't do anything untoward , like drinking , having an opinion etc then DON'T bother trying to adopt , it would save a lot of time and effort of both sides.
I know what I've put may seem to some a little harsh and I apologise for that.My wife and I just wanted a brother or sister for our son and have them brought up in a loving family home , it's not much to ask.Add to this all the advertising that they are doing , it could be money better spent on changing things to help families to adopt not put stumbling blocks in the way.

Anything that is considered legal and not grounds to remove a child from it's natural parents should be acceptable for adoptive parents to do. It's not rocket science, i see no reason why there should be special rules for adoptive parents.

While I think the decision by the social workers is rather perverse, given the facts. The good part about the article is the positive angle they portrayed vaping. Good to see in a toilet paper media rag. I suppose it's the fact that social workers need a good kicking whatever, and they don't care how, so need to portray vaping as good. I'm a social worker, but I don't mind the bashing if it in a good cause.
