Must admit, I top up little and often with Carto's after the first fill, rather than let them run on almost empty . . . although not quite as regularly as dripping with an atomiser.

Thanks Chrissie I've got 5 cartos on the go because I couldn't wait to try all the different flavours They seem fine once I've topped them up but maybe I'm just used to the burnt taste now I'll keep topping them up every time I use them and see if they're ok and if not, I'll try giving them a clean

Thank you Bel, I'm really impressed with how I've taken to vaping and how easy it was to stop smoking real cigarettes. I hope I never smoke another but I'm taking it one day at a time. This forum is a great support unit for us "newbies" I don't know if I would have taken the plunge and bought my kit if it wasn't for all the help I got here

HI sue and alvo - so glad to hear things are going well I'm definitely in the Perpy school here top up little and often. I think you'll find after a while that the carto will just start to taste a bit "dry" before you get a burnt taste - as soon as it drops off a bit top it up. Hasten to add that my interpretation of "often" is after several hours of use!

Hi everyone, I wanted to let you know, I'm still vaping away happily and still off the dreaded weed I am so delighted at how easy I've found it to give them up completely and I have no intention of ever going back to them I do have yet another question though. I think I've probably ruined a few of my cartomisers because I haven't been topping up often enough or maybe topping up too much :-[ I'm going to try to clean them but I'm not too worried if that doesn't work because I see it as all part of the learning curve While I'm at work during the day, it's sometimes difficult to keep topping up every other time I use my e-cig so I tried topping up with a small amount of fluid from the bottom of the cartomisers, using the condom method and I've found this so much easier. My question is, would I damage my remaining cartomisers if I carried on doing this?

As a noob too, I'm probably wrong, but, I use the condom method first, then top up with a few drips now and then (why does this sound so wrong?) then I re-top up but by the condom method again. I'm pretty tight and like to get a long time out of my cartomizers. It works for me! I put the condoms on the spare topped up ones whenI'm going to be out for a while so as i know I won't run out! if it works for you and keeps you off the nasties then i would have thought that's fine Well done for keeping of the ciggies

Great news Sue! Don't forget your cartomiser's won't last forever, anything from 3 days to a couple of weeks . . . fill them how best suits you, you won't damage them . . . it's only if you let them run dry and get a burnt tasting vape that any harm is done.

Just do what's right for you as long as you keep them moist, it's the drying out that ruins them. I personally just use the condom method for the first fill then when the vape drops off just drip in 10 - 15 drops. You'll know if you overfill as it will "gurgle" if it gurgles, take it off the e-cig and gently blow though it into a tissue to collect the excess fluid. Then wipe the end of the carto and battery connector and re-assemble and you should be good to go!

Thanks for the replies The ones I have problems with taste awful, even though there is plenty of liquid in them now. I think I must have let them get too dry then in an effort to rectify the problem, kept adding more liquid :-[ Hey ho, you learn by your mistakes I'm learning to tell when they need topping up before I get the awful burnt taste so I'll be more careful in future

Sue, as a relative noob too I have found the same thing - you need to find your own oattern from how you take a drag on your e-cig to filling cartos. I've kind of got in a pattern now with most of my vaping routine. I've given up from the first try on my Riva without intending to and don't even think about fags now. Tis great! Ali x

Once a carto gets burnt it's very hard to get rid of the taste, if you can afford it throw it away, if you wan to try and use it either boil it in some water, or put it in a cup and pour in hot water AFTER giving it a good rinse through with hot water, you can add some bicarbonate of soda if you have it or as I do in a cup with hot water and a denture cleaning tablet. Leave for a few hours or overnight. Rinse thoroughly, shake it and blow through it to dry it. Leave on a radiator or somewhere warm to dry for a day then try it again, it MAY have got rid of most of the burnt taste.
