Scylla,
Have just tested the Tornado with 510/901 adapter. My battery is in need of a charge but they do work ok, but the cone won't fit. Actually, I'm a fan of 901 atties but find that the 510's work very nicely with the Tornado. If I was spending £50, I'd buy one of the complete packs and a pack of 5 batteries... If you decide you don't like it then someone will buy it from you.... Me for example. Lynda

Scylla - I succombed and bought the Tornado and more atties and batteries. Am a sucker for a bargain. I just have everything crossed that it works as well as the Riva. Will be soooo disappointed if it doesn't.

Poor old 901 - it's the model that got many of us started, got me off chainsmoking Golden Virginia - but we didn't have much choice in those days and I have to admit that it's pot luck whether you get good ones I hope you can swap it in Hiss scylla

O dear sorry to hear that Hissie :-[
I always got on well with the 901 it was just the battery life that was a bit short, but great as a starter kit/ back up ecig.

Thanks folks. Not looking as if I will be able to return it to TW. I've since put it on the for sale or swap section of the forum. I guess I've just been spoilt with the Riva

Had to weaken and purchased a nice pink Tornado kit today. Actually it works out cheaper to buy the full kit than just buying spare batteries for the Riva!

I'm also sorry to hear that Hissie, the 901 was my fave generic e-cig & it's still my fave atomiser that I use on my mods.

No you haven't made a big mistake Beeper. The 901 is good starter kit that so many of us started with.

One of the main differences between 901 & the Riva, is that the Riva is manual, wereas the 901 is automatic. I now used to using a manual model. Everyone agrees that the 901 makes a great starter e-cigarette & I don't think you will have any issues with it. I'm a newbie too, so haven't got the experience that the others have got.

Bee Good luck with the 901. I still use mine sometimes & still like it. Real neat to take out too The 901 comes in automatic & manual - which did you get ?? Both are fine Just personal preference. I started with an auto & have no preference personally, between the two. Come back soon edit - typo

True you have nothing to apologise for.
I was seriously worrying when I first bought the Riva. Even when it arrived I was scared of using it.
I'm sure you will be ok.
