DNA30 enclosure

@windows have you made this one. It says the dna40 is screwed in place I assume using the holes in the rails. How would you mount the dna30 board as I thought they were narrower than the 40. If the 30 will fit I'll give this one a go I think.

Not done that one yet Greg but there's always a way round things.
Im guessing that like a lot of other printed stuff the board sits in a recess and is just held in place by the screws. If thats the case you could use some tiny bits of plastic to use as tabs to hold the board in place.
Ive had a look on shapeways but its not much help as there's no pic of the inside.
Another way would be to get some plain pcb board and epoxy two strips to the edge of the dna30.
Drop the guys at custard a message they are very helpful.

Where do you get all the wee screws and magnets, all the shapeways links are US.
Is the silicone wire from stealth suitable ?

Along with all the other bits and bobs required. I have a go at cramming all the bits and bobs inside it once everything arrives.

And now ordered a soldering station and a third hand plus heatshrink, surely there can't be much else required. Probably end up costing more than any of my mods and no guarantee it will work, must think positive !

That will depend on the outcome hence the cheap DNA 30, and I bought 2 just in case.

Shapeways printed boxes are simple to put together and are a good if expensive entry into mod making. But 'put together' are the operative words as the only work you have to do is solder the wires and screw/glue a few items together. For me they sit somewhere in between buying a mod off the shelf and making one yourself so do have an appeal. I find mine pleasant to use and it's stout and workmanlike.

The real satisfaction comes when you design and make a mod like VB, and end up with an elegant and unique piece that will give you far more satisfaction just to hold than any plastic printed box, and it'll put a smile on your face every time you use it. More of a challenge but far more reward.
