My Claptons have landed . . . . just a pity the Velocity clone I also bought to use them in, has decided to take the scenic from China. There it is - you can't have everything. What I really, really like is the humongous great holes to thread cotton through - even I can see well enough to do that.

They were from gearbest? Or another place?

Nothing like jumping in the deep end, my attempt at dual fused 24g/32g claptons. They come in at 0.13 ohms and generate lots of clouds. The velocity does get a tad hot though, think I need to try a single coil version Pleased for a first go though.

So, how do you work out how many wraps of whichever gauge + wrap for x ohms? And don't go and get all technical on me at this time of night! Keep it simple

Just use the diameter of the internal core wire & ignore the outer wrapping wire. The outer wire is thinner and of higher resistance so the power goes mainly through the core. At least that's what I was told

Keep it simple I would use the tcr curve part on steam engine here if I wanted too work out a certain ohms, although as reefcat says it does sort of work out the same as 26g parallels.

In the words of someone I was just watching on YouTube these actually look the trees leafs, bees knees. What do they Vape like compared ro regular Claptons ? Are they a pain to make?

Personally I think you get more flavour compared to standard claptons, yes a big pain to make too begin with but once you get the hang of it the wire flows on the core quite nice.. I would suggest using a lower gauge for the wire your going to replace too fuse the claptons which will make the fusing part a lot easier peter12

Claptons!!! You can keep them. With all the hype, I thought I would give them a go. 32/24g 5 wraps on a 3mm bit. About 0.3ohm (dual coil) The flavour and clouds were pretty good. But the ramp up time was absolutely rubbish. It was like waiting for a bus in rush hour. I like my coils to get red hot as soon as I press the button. I'll stick to my 0.64mm dual parallel nichrome coil builds (0.08ohm) Or my 0.8mm kanthal builds (0.12ohm) in future. Instant heat, flavour and clouds, with no ramp up wins it for me. It was worth a try though.

That's pretty. It will be the normal part of that parallel that heats up first though........helping the clapton.

Nah this one heats up like a motherlover too They're all dual coil as well which helps, that coil in yours is a humongous beast of a thing for a mech tube mod lol It's partly to do with wire gauge, size of coil, ohms and what you're using. For the bigger ones like that I use the series box, smaller ones like the other one I use the mech tube.
