Started vaping on and off 8 months ago firstly with e- lites which to me where a waste of money and went in the bin after a week. I like you already! The first rule of e-cig club (well, my rule ) is that "brands" don't really exist. "Makes" exist (and one could call them brands) but essentially, what most of us use is kits/hardware made of individual parts. That doesn't mean you can't buy an all-in-one kit, it's just it won't be called Vapouriz or Apollo or JacVapour.... as they are all a bunch of greedy gits. Today... I was using a mini Cloupor and a Kayfun (lite) before switching to subtank nano for the pub. The mini Cloupor and the nano are not even £40. That was about a week on those E-Lites plastic rubbish sticks.

You may want to try a slightly higher nic level if you feel that the craving is not going. There are lots of places to buy decent cheap liquids. When I am not DIY-ing I have used www.onepoundeliquid.com . A quid for 10ml so you can try different flavours without breaking the bank. Others here also recommend dripdropvapour.co.uk and joosejuice.co.uk/. Taste is pretty subjective both from flavours and manufacturers, so you may need to try a few before you get the ones you like.

If I were to start vaping all over again, I would get an iStick30 and a Nautilus mini cruella666. It is what I recommend to people who ask. I don't use a Nautilus, but still use iSticks for work. That set-up is the most straightforward for anyone starting out on their journey away from tobacco. So simple to use, plus they deliver enough nicotine to get you to forget cigarettes. And completely maintenance free. Well, apart from charging the mod (battery) and filling the tank/changing the atty when required, and occasional cleaning, which is the same with any set-up. But no re-coiling/re-wicking, getting spare batteries and a charger, buying wire and cotton etc. But keep asking questions. So you get what suits you. Everyone is different. Don't ask what flavour to vape, that is personal taste. And don't even try to find something that tastes like tobacco, in any brand of cigarettes/tobacco, it doesn't exist to AAEC

As for coughing the vapour particles are a lot smaller than smoke so it gives more of a tickle too your throat, also if your vaping the same way as you would smoke you will probably cough, try taking a puff very slow and then longer and longer untill you feel comfortable Sorry but this is incorrect. Vapour particles are bigger than smoke particles, a lot bigger and is the reason that you cough. In the same respect smoke particles are a lot bigger than the molecule constituents of air, again, the reason that you cough when you first start smoking, your lungs are not used to the bigger particles. It is because vapour particles are bigger than those in smoke that nicotine absorption is slower when vaping - the nicotine cannot get to the deep areas of the lungs that smoke does and hence there is less surface area for absorption by nicotinic receptors. However there are plenty of nicotinic receptors in your mouth and nasal lining so the best method for increased nicotine absorption from vaping is to suck the vapour into your mouth, hold it there for a few seconds, inhale into lungs and exhale through your nose slowly. Throat hit has to do with the method of vaping, PG / alcohol ratio and nicotine percentage rather than just the vape itself.

Welcome to you cruella666. I'll second all the recommendations for an iStick/Nautilus combo . . . . having a device with an ' inbuilt ' battery is initially very convenient whilst you're getting to grips with the new equipment. It also cuts the expense back a little as there's no need to buy batteries and a separate charger. Plenty of time for that, as I doubt once you make the switch to vaping you'll stop at just one device and it makes sense to have back ups anyway. Try what I call ' chugging ' when you get your new set up - don't inhale as you would have on a ciggy, hold the vapour in your mouth for a few moments before taking any down/exhaling.

Hi & I'll echo what's been said above, i'd recommend a iStick 30w and a Mini Nautilus As for nicotine strength, i'd say get a couple of levels, 18mg and 12mg to try and get a higher VG content if you can.

cruella666 - hi, and a warm welcome from me too! You've already experienced the enthusiasm we all hold for vaping, and also for helping new vapers with gear suggestions. I have used an iStick/ Mini Nautilus combination, and would wholeheartedly suggest that as a great first set-up too. I also agree with DiscoDes - get a couple of different strengths of juice in case one isn't doing the job. You will soon be able to decide which strength is the one for you, but I would also echo the thoughts about PG/VG ratio; get below 50% PG and you will find the vape much less harsh. Remember - the only silly question is the one you don't ask! Fire away, there's always someone here to help you out

Hi cruella666 and welcome. I too did not get on with esticks, and getting some decent kit was the answer. I would second Perpetua and others advice on inhaling differently than with a ciggie, worked a treat for me. . Good luck with the quitting!

Good morning thank you all for the advice you have given me much appreciated. Day off work today so I am off shopping for the shiny stuff, but the 2 vendors that have been mentioned have sold out of the istick 30w so would the 50w be ok for me as a beginner (not sure of the difference only higher watts?) and would the nautilus mini still be compatible. Or am I better off looking for the 30w. Are there any other vendors you would recommended, I know they are selling them on amazon and ebay but don't trust buying from there.

The istick 50 is a better mod IMO as it has a much larger battery (4400 mAh if I remember correctly). It, and indeed, any of the mods mentioned in the previous posts will accommodate the nautilus mini.

+1 for the advice ^^^ that @yinyang has given. The iStick 50w will give you more future proofing, and is a slightly larger physical mod so less top-heavy with a larger tank, The Mini Nautilus will be perfect on that mod, and you should get at least 2 days between charges unless you are really caning it!
