Well I bit the bullet and ordered everything I need. Should be here early next week.
To begin with I've gone for one shot concentrates but once I get to grips with it I'll be trying some of the recipes in the mixology section.

There's nothing better than coming across a custard(or any complex mix) juice you mixed 6 months ago. Mix up loads of juice and forget it. Vape away on your one-shot ADV, make 100ml more, vape it, then check the cupboard. Nothing better than finding a well steeped juice. Who needs patience??? If it isn't *premium* tasting, it's usually vapable. If it's disgusting, bin it. Don't make a whole heap of experimental juice, just make 5-10 ml, that way you only waste £1 at most. If it costs you more than £1 per 10ml, you may be buying from the the wrong retailers. Home brewing is sooooo cheap.
Edit: KEEP NOTES ON YOUR MIXES!

So do you guys feel your own mixes are better than "premium" store bought juices? I understand that taste is subjective but always wondered if DIY juices have that premium quality or are they just cheap and vapable?. Saying that - I've tried quite a few premium juices that were awful!

Saying that - I've tried quite a few premium juices that were awful! I've tried very few ' premium ' eliquids Arrowmunda as I'm not swayed by the hype surrounding them - nor am I inclined to pay the prices some charge for their wares. Use good quality base ingredients, many Vendors who sell to the ' public ' also wholesale to commercial juice makers, they don't use anything different to us. With the terrific range of blended concentrates there are available now, the hard work has been done if you're not of a persuasion to tinker. In my mind, the eliquid I make is on a par with such ' premium ' ranges - I shan't pretend that everything I mix makes me go wow, just like ready made eliquid really no matter how much you've paid for it. Although I wouldn't force anyone into trying DIY if they really didn't want to, as their hearts wouldn't be in the process . . . . . but you don't know until you try.

Like Perpetua, I haven't tried more than a handful of Premium juices, as the cost is too much for me. However, I do think that some of my long-steeped juices are an excellent vape. I wouldn't profess to be an expert, but I have mixed up a few litres by now, and know what I like. There are some great one-shot concentrates to get people started, and once the bug has bitten, then you can get into some simple recipes. It really isn't difficult to get your head around with the use of a good juice calculator, and the results can be surprisingly good.

I've tried quite a few 'premium' juices and like everything some are nice, some are awful. I'm quite confident that with the recipes and expertise on here I can get some lovely juices for a fraction of the price of the 'premium' stuff.
I know there are many clone recipes and I'll be searching them out, I think T-juice have got the right idea though, just sell the concentrate alongside the juices.

Arrowmunda at the end of the day this is e-cigs - not big pharma and patents - all e-liquid only has 4 ingredients (or less) - so the only thing you're really paying a premium on is the flavour

There are overheads I'm sure and a lot of time spent on creating new flavours of e juice, but clearly there must be money to be made, given the wide range of companies out there. So not all the cost of premixed is down to overheads and development costs. I'm not sure what the likes of LiQuid put in their liquids, but probably economies of scale are where the money is made. A tank of PG or VG bought in 5000lt will be cheaper than buying 1lt or 5lt bottles.

In general they're cheap, but they can become cheaper... Mainly depends on your location... e.g. if you're in the States, next to TPA premises you can have a whole lorry of concentrates, for pennies... Plus you can have another one lorry of nic base for almost nothing... so the 10ml of DIY it will be something like a freebie...
the only problem is what will you do with the 99.9% of the lorry's content... lol lol lol
At least for me the most expensive part of DIY is shipping expenses..

The only juice we have bought was the 10 bottles when we got our starter kits. I started mixing 2 weeks after starting to vape. Angie took to my mixes straight away but son Pete was very sceptical. He was using one juice as an ADV. I managed to make a clone that he has been vaping for over a year. First attempts were OK but when I tried a different strawberry concentrate for it he said it was perfect. We have introduced several friends to vaping. All use juices I make and have come up with some successful recipe suggestions. Looking through my current batch of juices they are mostly from my imagination, several from AAEC members, a few 'customer' suggestions and lastly one shots. The only juice I had ever worked out the cost for was a flavour heavy 'Blackcurrant Tunes'. It came out at £3.88 for 30mls. Since I started selling my juices I thought I'd better check the costs. The average is about £2.70 for 30mls as most are 20% or more flavourings. I can't thank AAEC often enough for the help & encouragement given so freely. Special thanks to Perpetua , lairey for their help & patience.
