I've posted this here because I am a newbie really and I'm just after a recommendation, following on from my comment in the "hang my head in shame" thread (I felt I was hijacking that thread so thought it best to start my own).
Continuing on from my comments in that thread, I received my Innokin Disrupter and Subtank Mini today. The Disrupter is a great bit of kit, just as I expected it would be after my good experiences with the VTR. It's smaller, much lighter and easier to hold, has a replaceable battery and can be charged by USB. So far so good.
Here's the shocker I wasn't expecting though - I took my iClear 30S off of the VTR and put it straight on to the Disrupter, and at the same 13 watts setting it is a hundred times better than the VTR ever was. It's just a smoother, yet fuller (nice throat hit), tastier vape. I'm a bit baffled by how that can be so - battery quality perhaps? I have two 18650 batteries for the VTR (both over a year old) and both performed the same.
I then emptied the Subtank Mini box with excitement, washed the removable tank parts and mouth piece in warm water and dried, swapped out the 0.5 oh coil for a 1.5ohm I'd purchased, primed the coil, filled the tank, aaaand, I didn't like it :-( Too much air (even though I'd closed it off as best I could) and the vape was overly sweet (masking the other flavours), airy and unfulfilling. I also found the mouthpiece too big. Darn it. I dropped the watts to 10 and slowly climbed up to 20 - the flavour altered a bit (less sweet), but the draw was the same. You know what, my bad, it's a sub ohm tank and I'm sure it's awesome at that, but not what I am after right this moment (no drama, I have it now for when I want to try sub ohm later).
So, that all said, I absolutely love the RBA aspect in the Subtank kit. I've already taken it to pieces, swapped the wire coil just to see if my chubby hobbit fingers could manage it and wicked it and put it back together. Awesome fun and I want to do this in the future if possible.
So finally, here is my question to you lovely helpful people on this forum. I need a rebuildable atomiser, similer(ish) or better than the iClear 30s in performance, for mouth to lung (so if it has airholes they can be fully closed), and where parts are easy(ish) to come by.
Is there such a thing out there for me? Thanks once again in advance guys!

I am a big fan of the Kayfun, ideal for MTL easy to build and good for flavour. You can get the standard tank at 4.5 ml or the nano set up if you want something smaller. Hope this helps

Yeah i would say a Kayfun clone would be good too, lots of spares available if you crack a tank or something. Stick a wanted ad in the classifieds section might be someone with one laying about they'll let go cheap.

Are you sure that you had the air set to it's minimum on the subtank? Sometimes the adjustable ring can be stiff. To test, you should be able to put your fingers over the air holes and try & vape, in theory you shouldn't be able to get any air in at all like that. If you do, you have an air leak somewhere. With the air set to it's lowest on the subtank I have trouble getting any air at all, so can't think that it can be too airy if it's set up correctly. Just a few thoughts

Cheers guys - 3 votes for Kayfun. Looks like my-epack has the 3.1 and v4 at the same price of 19.99. I'd normally just go for the latest V4, so any reason why not too as there is no real description for either of them?
Reefcat, I hear what you are saying and appreciate the heads-up. I will try again with it tomorrow morning and test it again as you describe. I like everything about it bar the air, so more than happy to keep working on it to get it right.

The V4 has not been met with universal approval I would suggest Kayfun lite plus V2

you can turn the afc ring on the sub tank so half or less of the one small air hole is showing works best with the 1.2 ohm head in the box not the .5 ohm thats norm fitted in the tank bit fiddly to get the afc tight nuff for mtl but it is doable

My advice @hondo? - avoid the Kayfun v4! They are so bleddy complicated, I can't even figure out how to disassemble for cleaning my brand new one, let alone figure out how it all goes back together again afterwards! Stick with the v2 or the Russian 91%, which is a very similar model. the Kayfun Lite 3.1 is excellent, and I still have a few, plus the one which my wife uses exclusively. They are great to build on, quite forgiving once you get the wicking right, and are highly regarded by all that have used them.

fwiw the subtank mini clone bases available from Fastech only have the one air in slot which is big enough for the wide open sub ohm vape, but is also easier to close off for the tighter draw some prefer. imho well worth the $5 punt, considering what you have spent on the atty And that you like the build deck.. www.fasttech.com/products/0/10013440/2993200-replacement-air-flow-control-valve-base-forAlso the wide open vape may grow on you perhaps try with a different juice before you write it off ...
