This is one of the most informative threads I have read for a beginner, it's helped me no end. Firstly, welcome to the forum and congrats on finding the best forum around. I'm glad that this thread has helped someone else...this is why I continued to update the thread and ask new questions in it, rather than starting lots of new threads elsewhere in the forum, in the hope that other people might find answers if they had similar questions as the advice I have received in here has been invaluable. Now for another update from me: It has now been exactly 4 weeks since I last had a cigarette (well, technically last night at 7pm was the actual exact time but close enough) and, apart from a mild craving on a couple of occasions, I have not wanted or needed a cigarette at all. I still go outside to vape as I don't want to risk my tenancy by vaping indoors but I don't mind going outside anyway...standing outside my block of flats, I am about 10 feet from a footpath and, over the last week, I have smelt cigarette smoke several times and I have really hated the smell of it every time which is obviously good as I am less likely to start again but also surprising as I have never minded the smell before even when I have quit for longer periods in the past. Have decided that, although I have only just bought a second Nautilus Mini, I am going to buy a Kangar sub-tank so that I can try different ratios of juice beyond 50/50...while my chest is okay with the 50/50 juices, I am still suffering from the sore throat when I vape and have also started getting it when I wake up in the night due to no fluid drinking. Will probably order it and juices in a week or two as JooseJuice website is offline till the 4th and I wanted to see what they have as well as other sites (ideally I'd want to get them from LiQuid as I know their juices but anything beyond 50/50 mix has too little Nicotine for me currently). And now to end this update with some more stats as I do love my stats!! Started Vaping: 5 weeks ago Cigarettes not smoked: 480 Money Saved: £191 Overall Save (Save Minus Costs): £94.30

@nursemorph great news, on both the gear and success fronts, I would suggest that gearbest website has some incredible deals on at the moment (although it might be a 2>3 week wait to get the stuff) mini natui tank for £13 subtank nano and rba head some bits ship from china some from the EU warehouse, but for price they often cant be beaten and certainly faster to arrive than fastech so long as they actually have the kit in stock (that's a whole other issue) but potentially big savings over other suppliers if the wait istn a big issue, also spare istick 30w although this unit has some better options and costs a quid or so less dovpo forever30w which will be better if you do go down the RBA route and decide to play with ni200 coils certainly I have all of those and the VVTF rba for the nauti the last bit is on ebay though but it works really well once you get the right wire and the right tools for making the coils, have ot say I much prefer the vape quality out of the rba's to the stock heads and the work out a hell of a lot cheaper especialy if you get your wire from stealth vapes ( 75meters for £9) they do other types /awg's just click through their shop, seems like the cheapest for the length though for good quality wire as for the wicks get whatever you like I went with muji sheets so I could build to suit my needs others have their own preferred wick material. in terms of saving money the RBA coil decks are probably the biggest area where you can save cash long term, and something that's really simple to do once you watch a video or two, I don't even bother dry burning them like the show on the vids just wrap em fit em wick em add a few drops of e-juice and stick into the tank leave for a few minutes and then start chugging away

nanotm Thank you for the advice...I actually got my original kit from GearBest. Regarding building my own coils, not really something I am looking to do at present..am more focused on just finding a combination of tank/juice that doesn't irritate my throat so much, hence why I am leaning towards the Kangar subtank to allow thinner juices etc. I am curious about a couple of things though: Is there any difference between the Kangar Mini and Nano beyond the size of the tank? I would prefer a larger capacity tank so I don't have to fill it as often and the size is no issue for me as I rarely go out and, when I do, it's for short periods so I don't tend to take my vaping stuff with me From what I have read, the Kangar uses lower ohm coils than the nautilus (it comes with, I think, a 0.5 and 1.2 whereas the Nauti uses 1.8 ones)? Does that just mean that I would need to run the iStick at a higher wattage the lower the ohms? Do subtanks normally run with lower ohm coils than non-subs? Is the process for using the OCC coils in a subtank the same as the Nauti? I assume it's just the same way of filling etc? I know they are rather basic questions but I like to know about things before I buy it. Thanks

@nursemorph
well the simple answer is they work the same in terms of assembly and filling, the only differerences between them are the price and the tank size, the nano is 3ml whilst the mini is 4.5ml, they use the same coils and rebuildable assembly,
the thing with coiling your own is you can make 200 coils and wicks for the same price as 20 standard coils, when I started I had in interst in them but after a pack of "authentic" duds I gave it a whirl because the cost of those coils that were barely lasting 2 days (at low watts) was looking to becom extortionate.
as to running thinner juice, I have been using 70pg juice in the nauti without any problems, the thicker 70vg juice works great on the rebuildable deck.
the wattage used against the ohm in the coil is subjective, I like my vape cold so I keep the wats down, currently I am running a subtank mini with a 0.6ohm rba at 15.5watts although I could crank it up to 30watts that would make the vape to warm for my tasts.
on the flip side I have an ni200 coil on the rba deck in the nauti running at 15 wats on temp sensing dovpo mod which is registering the coil at 0.09ohm that's chugging through a thick 70%vg juice and producing a lovely flow (currently sucking down chocolate fudge brownie)
so its up to you how much you fiddle with the watts, it will likely need ot be slightly higher than the 1.8ohm coils but not to much so, anyhow I don't like the single flavour option so I run several tanks with similar setups and all with different flavours, but like I said the dovpo mod is a few quid cheaper than the istick and has an extra capability in case you get the urge to try something new, you can get stock kanger ni200 coils for temp control which honestly seems like a good option to me, although I MTL all the way by changing out the drip tips and chugging away on lower strength juice than I used with the stock coils /

The other advantage of the mini over the nano is the mini comes with an RBA deck so should you choose to rebuild in the future you can have a go

The Kanger Subtank Minis are great little tanks; the OCC standard stock coils work well, and can be obtained from China cheaply. The RBA deck is easy to build on, and there are loads of good guides here on the forum to watch and read first - tim has a link at the bottom of his signature I believe, or if not he will point you in the right direction. SOmething to read while the gales blow tonight!

nanotm I, of course, meant to say thicker liquids, not thinner! Regarding the wattage, I run the Naut fairly low at only 10 watts anyway with the 1.8ohm coils as that level worked well for me but have no problem increasing with a sub if needed. Do the OCC coils last as long as the BVC coils? I have seen that you can replace the cotton in the OCC ones but that seems like too much faffing around for me as I don't do fiddly things. Obviously that's a consideration as if the coils don't last long, then it could get expensive. I know coils last different times for different people but just wondering on an estimate (like the BVCs for an average user is 2-3 weeks if I recall) Have just been looking around and was wondering if anyone has used Puffin eLiquids? This one: Puffin They have a custom mix so you can choose the vg/pg and nicotine level you want and the reviews on the site seem mostly good but wanted anyone's opinions from here before I try them as, while they are not majorly expensive, they are not as cheap as some around (30ml for £12 odd).

@nursemorph, dripdrop allows you to customise the vg/pg and nic content as well and they are half the price... worth checking out

the drip tip is also a big consideration, anything that narrows the airflow will give a tighter draw and there are some seriously tight airflow tips around that will turn even the most airy tank into a MTL unit if that's your preferred style

I just love the Nautilus mini as it suits me down to the ground, I don't know if it's the tight draw described by many on here, I just seem to enjoy it. i don't need any more kit at the moment, but I have looked at the Kanger sub tank mini, and that really does look like a good bit of kit if you want to rebuild coils yourself. And to be honest that's the next step up for people like us that want to enjoy our vaping and keep the costs down. Whatever you do, just enjoy it.
