TC Stainless steel wire

Using the method I used, I could get SS to TC before the firmware updates on the XCUBE2 in nickel mode. The displayed temperature was way down in the 250F kind of range, but it was actually the same temperature vape as a nickel coil at 440F. That was without the burn test.

I like SS wire, not for any technical reason, it just seems to make more sense to me with regard to what`s coming off the coil

I'm not knocking anyone who is happy with TC as I've been playing with it a good while and been happy for months.
It's just come to a head with me now and I can't be asked anymore lol.
I may revisit in the future

Yeah I'm still considering using it in power mode as it does seem a good choice in that respect

Hmmm I couldn't rest so tried it again and done a cotton burn test.
It actually starts to faintly mark the cotton around 500f
Set all up again and it's vaping well at 500f and 50w.
But why so much variation from my last batch of 317L?
That bothers me.

I am not sure that the TCR is totally accurate on a lot of SS wires, it`s the most sensitive option for TC wire, an easier measurement on Nickel for sure. If there are slight differences in manufacture it`s going to affect the TCR even though we have one TCR value for a given SS wire, just my opinion though. Again the Asolo takes it in it`s stride as every coil you put on it is determined individually.

Yeah I did read slight variations in the content of molybdenum can cause this and 304 not having molybdenum is the most consistent.
Maybe this is proving to be true.
Although I did find 304 to be more spikey if it hits tc.
Hmmm maybe it's a case of doing the cotton burn test when receiving a new batch to get a benchmark for what temperature to set at.
Although I don't need TC there's something satisfying knowing it's there just in case I suppose.
I might give it another chance and take back my earlier rants after all.

Having played with SS316L this week and lurked in this thread I echo all your comments. It produces a love clean vape in wattage mode. Sadly it seems to be a cat and mouse in TC mode.

No probs jtc on the link I posted above they do state that TC doesn`t work with kanthal, but it does slightly. I think the page was written before the Asolo was on the market.

Nife30 works brilliantly but no dry burning does my head in.
It's 70% nickel so not advisable.
I tried it last night though and it was a lovely vape.
No I think I'm back with ss now I've got my head around my glitches again.
It's so good to air and share thoughts on here though.
In the past I've got things so wrong in posts and I may have in this thread somewhere, but if it's got me or anyone else to a good end result then I don't care.
I'm happy again now
