Couldn't agree more with what everyone has said about this particular forum, we kind of get to know each other as people/cyber friends rather than just vapers ~ which I personally like very much. ECF for example is just too big and impersonal for me to spend any time on it. I do take the point you're making though Perfectionist.

I don't mind how many others disappear/amalgamate/whatever just so long as this one stays! (So long as allaboute doesn't get flooded with homeless forum members who are not as friendly as the ones here!) I don't think I would have got started without allaboute, and whenever I have a look at others I always beetle back here where I feel at home. I look in all the time and read all the latest posts and smile or sympathise, whichever is appropriate, even if I don't chip in all that often. Like lisa said, the new forum has a different slant and is welcome from my point of view. I wouldn't say we've got a bajillion, but in the end what does it matter? People will go where they feel comfortable or well-informed or whatever

Don't want to take anything away from Lisa's thread about her new forum but just have to say thank you so much for everyone's lovely comments about our forum. Lol, I can hardly see to type at the moment as my eyes are watering so much - I'm not crying -honest.

((( Chris ))) It's all so true ~ we're real people in here as opposed to faceless cyber beings ~ all thanks to you and the fantastic job you do.

I just ditto all of the above. Chrissie has a wonderful way of diplomatically ensuring that the forum stays on focus with the ecig topics, as well as ensuring that it remains a friendly and welcoming place to all. No cliques, which do so often put people off joining forums. I shall pop along to Lisa's, because as she says, different slants may well give you a bit more food for thought. So thanks for that too, Lisa.

awwwwww. Chrissie, it's all true though. Obviously I have to do a lot of hanging around on forums (comes with the territory ) - but yours is different in that it's actually a place of respite from some of the madness elsewhere (well, it hasn't been for me recently, but that's not your fault). I'd say at the moment, the only other forum that compares is Scott's and I like it there very much too - I feel a more masculine energy there, whereas I feel more feminine energy here, but in many respects, they are similar. I hope I can help foster a similar vibe on the new forum, and with Dan (male and young) and me (female, not quite as young ) as the founders, I am hoping it will help encourage a nice widespread group of differing individuals who are keen to help each other out. We've got the video chat there too - not something I myself am into but I think it might prove quite popular with some as the only places to offer this previously were very US-centric ones. Anyway, forums are a reflection of the people that "live" in them - and the usually harmonic and family-type atmosphere in here is simply a reflection of you and your helpers and all the regular posters here. I would do well to attain anything even halfway close to the vibe that is to be found here.

Forums like this one are far better as they will be unbiased and independent - Vendor based forums will always have a conflict of interest and be liable to censorship and overt promotion etc ...... Vaping needs a purely UK version of ECF that has separate sections for all the Vendors - that way we get all the benefit of the Sellers involvement yet still maintain an open and honest appraisal of their goods and customer service ...... Maybe Chrissie and the Mods could look at upgrading this place ?!

There are quite a few members here who've said they prefer a smaller site than ECF and I tend to agree. The larger the site, the more argumentative it can be and, perhaps, a different platform from that of a free-forum provider would be necessary. Proboards, among others, has quite strict guidelines on how their forums are used. This one is an information and discussion 'community' forum (the url is a bit of a giveaway methinks) with the vendor section as an added bonus both for the sellers and members alike. Sometimes large forums can get out of hand and require a large number of dedicated moderators with time on their hands!! Fox

Perfy, Foxy is right. The majority of our members have come via eBay, either from the eBay e-cig group I started there 22 months ago, or from one of the threads asking about e-cigs on their community boards. So most where only familiar with the simple eBay forum format.
Mind you the irony is that eBay are about to change their community forums to a very similar format to Proboards.

I'm a member of umpteen e-cig forums both US and UK based, and vendor and consumer based. The good ones survive...
(This one has been around for quite a while, and I really like its "small and friendly" aspect)

I don't want 'up-grading' thank you dude, I'm very happy in this snug place where I know what I'm doing bro. Chris and her mods ( I suspect ) work on forum users using a modicum of self modification babe. It's a pest regards Ebay Chris and I probably won't cope with the technicals as I can't size an avatary properly.

(((Perpy))) I doubt an avatar will be compulsory on the new eBay forum formats More than happy for anyone needing help when the changes come about to start a thread in here asking for help

This place is a testimony to your principle and integrity Chrissie - there are few people with these qualities left in the world - and certainly within the Vaping world !! You deserve much respect and praise babe !! Ebay is one of the biggest sites on the web so it must bring a lot of traffic here - yet the membership is less than 200 which is a great shame ....... small and cosy is cool, but I'm sure your original intention was to to raise awareness far and wide and help as many people as possible ??
