I'm assuming you have dismantled the switch and cleaned it and the hole it goes through? It IS possible I guess the get a short or break at the "atty end" sproing and assessmbly, but it would be very very rare. Try asking trog? How old is the SD? Was it from TW?

Was it from TW? hi prof, i was hoping you would reply. i have cleaned the threads, the button hole, the atty end, the entire inside body, i even removed the rubber cork at the atty end. i also repeated this process with a cloth and tiny amount of white spirit. i put a new screw and button on, new atty and know good batt. this did happen last week but it came back to life after i blew the atty clean and give a clean, mine is quite often cleaned. i think there may be liquid in the atty fitting, as since using the eastmall attys, when you remove the atty from the SD there can be juice on the outside of the atty, i have never noticed this before. the SD is about 7months old and came from TW. ive ordered a new body from TECC this afternoon. any advise........ raggy.........

Really wish I could help you Raggy but I've never owned an SD Mk11.
Do they have a circuit board in them like the SD Mk1? If so & juice has got into this, could that be the problem?

ive put the atty end stood up next to the heat source that comes out of the lapyop, see what happens. i do think these attys maybe responsible though. might be an idea for all who have them to check once a day to see if there wet when you take them off, or does this happen with all attys.

I've had juice all over my SD MkII several times but it's still going strong. Just recently I've tried a couple of DSE901 low resistant atties but, unfortunately, they simple stopped working within two weeks (one after just one week) with no warning at all. I'm really hoping the fault with your SD lies with the atties you're using Raggy as all the designated SD atties I've had from TW have been long lasting. Fox

Fox All the LR901 atties I've had have "just stopped working" - sometimes several weeks sometimes 10 days or so - they don't seem to "tail off like most atties. Re the SD Mk2 - there is no circuit board, but a connection/failure short is possible at the atty end I think - probably repairable, but possibly not economically. My Mk2 is older than yours and has been fine - do you screw you atties on really tight? that might result in some sort of failure I suspect as some Mk2's had "looseness"in thata end...

Unfortunately I've only got a Mk1 as well I've very often flooded inside the end where the atty screws in, but just wiped it dry with tissues and it's soldiered on. I've been using an Eastmall LR atty for a couple of weeks or so, just checked the join and it's nice and dry. I'm using blue foam, so no flooding like there was with my shaky dripping. scylla

A converter will also provide a bit of a barrier between juice and your SD scylla
