I got so bored I started talking to a spider, surprisingly nice guy for a web developer. Love your optimism 😂 As a theatre practitioner who has just had a short three hour training session on itu nursing, I am beginning to worry as to how this is going to pan out. So pleased to see a 4000 bedded hospital has now been knocked up to be run by military nurses I am hopeful that the pressure on the nhs is going to be slightly lessened when the sh!t hits the fan. But I am still very scared 😟 All I can say is, stay in your house, PLEASE! If we can prevent even a small percentage of what we have seen in Italy just recently then it’s a slightly better result. Some people have no idea about the effects of them meeting with even just one other person outside of their home. I’m sure I don’t need to dumb it down to you people, but just think about what you could be taking to someone else not knowing where they could be taking it to. As a healthcare worker I can not even begin to tell you how worried I am at bringing something home. I have already witnessed one of my babies on a ventilator, I dont want to witness that ever again. So it comes to this, I have got my toiletries and overnight bits together and waiting in my car as when I come into contact with a confirmed case it will be a choice as to whether I return home, or take up the offer of a paid hotel until this is over, which could be months rather than weeks....the longer people do not comply with guidance will dictate that. As a key worker I have the option to still send my kids to school. My twins were the only ones at the preschool, and despite resistance from the preschool as they very much want to help out key workers as much as possible, I have taken them out altogether as well as my eldest out of primary school. I have managed this by my partner negotiating hours at her workplace to ensure that we can look after our kids at home completely so that preschool can now close and workers stay at home to prevent the spread and look after their own children. Anything you can do to be at home, do it, speak to your employers, negotiate hours if it helps, just stay at home and keep your children in. The more we comply with guidance, the sooner we can get back to normal. Sorry to those that already comply and that know this, I’m not trying to be patronising and I am certainly not overreacting. Help us help you. Follow the guidance and stay safe, all of you. I dont want us to be in the same situation as Italy where we are having to choose who lives and who dies because we don’t have enough ventilators. This is very real. I’m frightened, but trying to keep calm.

Thanks rezello for the work that you are doing/preparing for. These are challenging, scary and uncertain times for all, especially those at the front line. Good luck and thanks for reiterating the advice to stay at home.

Thankyou and I’m sure that everyone on here is sensible and follows the guidance but if you can all reiterate this to as many as possible outside of this group we can all help and get through this together. Stay safe and stay in 😊

Supermarket life has taken a turn for the civilised and safer better . . . . email sent to all of our customers yesterday:
" We hope you, your family and your friends are keeping safe and well.
Following the Government’s new announcements on Monday, we’re writing to tell you about a new 5-point action plan we’ve introduced into Waitrose stores to protect you and our Partners as you continue to shop with us.
The plan includes: Limiting customer numbers: a reduced number of people will be allowed into our shops at any one time, plus new signage to help keep customers two metres apart.
Dedicated marshals in our busiest shops: teams will manage queues at shop entrances before and during opening as well as prioritising NHS staff.
New cleanliness measures will be adopted and checkout screens introduced, to protect customers and Partners.
All Partners will be offered special visors, creating an extra layer of protection.
Cashless and contactless payment will be encouraged as this will help reduce unnecessary contact. Partners will also help customers use our Quick Check self-service app. We know some measures will cause inconvenience, but they will help keep us safe and so we ask for your support and cooperation.
From all of us, we thank our Partners for their unstinting hard work and you and your families for your continued loyalty and understanding.
Take good care "
These measures, apart from the visors and screens were implemented from Tuesday and have been really well appreciated by customers . . . . we've a superb team of Marshals ( outside Security ) in our store, friendly and professional - in addition to helping with the extra disinfecting of trolley/basket handles/checkout conveyor belts after every customer.
Those of us on the shop floor welcome these measures unreservedly, although it's fair to say that there's some disappointment among us, as all of this ought to have been introduced a week ago at the very least to safeguard us from unnecessary exposure to the virus, the experience in other countries has provided enough warning . . . . we all accept the need with a resolve and good grace for us to keep working, but our CEO's like many others have been working from home for a good while now, where they're able to keep their environment as risk free as possible.
I've taken the precaution of ordering a full face visor and some masks, which hopefully will be delivered today, rather than wait on supplies from work to come in. For anyone who is wearing a mask while doing any essential shopping etc - please be aware that you also need to wear goggles or a visor as droplets containing COVID-19 can enter the body through your eyes.
If I were to make one significant observation, it's about the minimum 2 metre rule . . . . numerous times yesterday I had to tell customers to step back from me, it feels unnatural granted, but it's advice there for a reason - to help protect us all.
Similarly while I'm out dog walking, the number of joggers/runners/cyclists who are out taking their exercise with no regard to their distance from others, just because you run or cycle it does not make you immune!! Just stop it and start considering others as it's not always possible for a walker to step aside in a timely enough manner.
Stay safe everyone.

People walking in huddles, bumping old friends hugging and hand shaking laughing away as if they are invincable. My scum bag neighbours who havent done a days work in their life had a lovely little pot party in their garden for all their friends. Its crazy whats going on...yet some are making it crazier than it has to be

We dont need a crystal ball to tell us the effect that will have on the situation 😡

We certainly don't! And we've not reached the peak of this virus yet . . . . far from it.
At the risk of being thought morbid, I'm keeping this link open and checking a few times a day to see how the crisis is unfolding in the UK and around the rest of the world:
Italy and Spain's figures are scary, very scary - lack of the necessary medical equipment in those countries, is contributing to their statistic's I believe.

We went into lockdown 2 weeks ago as Angie is in the same situation as Chrissie. There's a big green plastic box outside our front window. All parcels are put in there and we don't give signatures for them. People I make liquids for have been collecting them from the same box. After each collection or delivery I disinfect it. I go out walking the dog and have no trouble social distancing. Family have been great getting our shopping. Some people still don't get how serious it is. Daughter in law got some shopping for us and waived payment until I told her it would go on for months. As the restrictions have got tighter I've started posting liquids in the post box on my dog walk. Thought it couldn't get worse until my specs fell apart. I'm using an old pair which only have one arm or prescription sun glasses depending on the light conditions. Coiling in sun glasses is fun. NOT.

Its real. its worrying, and while some are fools, Many people are proving themselves to be heros.
Our local corner shop will take phone orders and drop food on your doorstep payments to be sorted later. perhaps im just a trusted customer??..
The local supermarket staff are ALL HEROS for their calm and firm handling of the horde.. My last shop last sunday was marshalled by calm and competent staff.
Post was delivered today and the bins were also collected.. More local heros imho..
On ibiza at 8pm folk play music and entertain their neighbours. Stars!!
We will overcome!
I cant help but wonder tho, If we could have seen this coming would we have voted for the Boaty McBoatFace politicians that now hold office??

Something I learned today, wear gloves and or disinfect your bin handles when you bring them back in. Refuge collectors can handle upto two thousand bins a day, be careful folks.

Now there is a £60 fixed penalty fine for breaking movement restrictions for the first offence and doubling for each subsequent offence so the 5th would be £960 (+ the £792 for the first 4). www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-52053527 better late than never
