G'day All, I'm new to forum and had my first vape today. Albeit only a standard Skycigs one.
What I really want to say is a HUGE thank you to all you members whose previous forum contributions have helped me progress to my next step without me even asking a question.
A young colleague told me about the fabulous Skycigs bargain if you had the quit38 discount code late last Wednesday night and before anybody quips in on that, it is a bargain, 2 510 batteries, 5 prefilled carts and a PCC for about £12. Thats less than 2 packs of fags. It is not a bargain without the discount. It was him telling me his experience of it with less than a couple of hours use since he got his earlier that day that made me go for it as I have tried everything over the years, and I mean many years. I have got down from 40 Embassy No 1 a day to 20 Silk Cut but apart from my best 4 months off the weed about 10 years ago, I haven't come close.
Only after I placed the order did I think about the ongoing costs, especially replacing the carts with Skycig ones as soon as they have gone with their prefilled ones. OK still less than packets of fags which is why I thought I would give the Skycigs offer a go. No harm in trying and all that at for just £12. If it doesn't do it for me at all, fine.
So the research started Thursday night. First refill existing carts, get good Boge 510 carts and juice, money saving on the horizon already. Then I looked at all the fuss needed to to refill carts, especially new ones, and pathetic battery life on any small battery. Now don't get me wrong, the Skycigs were chosen also for being a cig-a-lite and nicely packaged with the PCC. After more than 48 years of cigs I felt I needed that initial comfort.
Then my colleague still gave me good reports over the following days, not having cigged at all, so I went for the boat push out in terms of research over the weekend. I still needed to wait for my own go after my Skycigs appeared (today) before I ordered but my mind was made up if I felt vaping MIGHT be for me after a few hours of it. I then had to go through all that what battery size and which system thing. Carts were out because of the fiddliness. I initially was going to go for an Ego tank system with 650mah batteries until I saw some reviews that hinted at juice problems and it might take a while to get it right, so in the end I plumped for the 1100 Riva with 2 Vision clearomisers.
The Skycigs arrived this morning and were duly tried. Can't say I was knocked out by them but I was pleasantly surprised over the next few hours so I pulled the trigger and ordered the Riva et al, plus juice , before I otherwise would have had to order Skycig replacement carts. Order fulfilled and dispatched (thanks VE) before I left work.
So thanks again to everybody (and Liam) who helped in this fast decision. I'm not banking on giving up. I am banking on improving health and saving money. I have halved my cig intake already. I will take it slowly and not force a cutting down. If that happens naturally, then that is a bonus. I still intend to use the Skycigs alongside the Riva depending upon circumstances.
Hopefully the above will help other newbies or those just browsing the forum to make their first decision. Good luck to you.
Now, my next decision is what juice to use. It should only take about 6 months or so from what I have seen so far. All I've ordered today is a mixture of tobacco style samplers given my background. Seriously, Cherry, Cinnemon? Well maybe my tastes will change with time. We'll see.

Welcome to the forum Nightus. Good to see you've invested in a Riva now, not only will that be a far more satisfying vape for you, it will also have a greatly improved battery run time. You may well be very surprised what it does for your smoking habit . . . .

Hi nightus and welcome - and well done on your decisions. As you've already been browsing the forum you'll know what a friendly lot we are. Like you, I started on Skycigs and still use them alongside my growing collection of 'proper' e-cigs....I use them at work anyway. As for juice - well I'm sitting here vaping white chocolate chip cookies. Tomorrow I'm expecting a delivery of 'mint choc chip' and strawberry donuts. Tobacco flavour? No thanks!

Hello and #welcome2# you're right, that sky cig kit with the dissie code is worth the money. Yes the batteries are wimpy but as you have the PCC the 2 bats and the case it should keep you going for a good few hours It's not really a faff filling cartos, you soon get the hang of it and you're right the boge 510s will fit! It's certainly a good back up kit to have along side your Riva and for circumstances which you would like to appear more 'normal' lol! I'm sure you'll love your Riva kit, most of us do Juice, again you're right, your taste buds will change. Best to go for small sample bottles at first. did you order any with your kit? The Grizwold juices are very nice Once you work through all the juice on the VE site, you can have a look here for small 5ml bottles paradisevapeuk.vstore.ca/index.php/cName/ejuice/osCsid/febec947aeb68076002b22f6443749acenjoy your vaping journey, any questions, ask, someone will always try to help

. All I've ordered today is a mixture of tobacco style samplers given my background. Seriously, Cherry, Cinnemon? Well maybe my tastes will change with time. We'll see. I started on cigarette flavours. Less than three months later I'm on Waffle, Butterscotch, Caramel Mocha...I tried a cigarette flavour a couple of days ago and it tasted foul. Once your brain realises it no longer needs cigarettes to get its fix, it will stop lying to you about how they taste. And it will want juices that taste nice.

Hello & welcome Nightus Brilliant post & I'm sure it will help other newbies a lot #icon_thumbsup# As you & Karma says, that Skycig offer is brilliant Just hope that others also do their research like you & realise that Skycigs & similar companies make their money with the on going costs from purchasing from them.

Hi Nightus and a warm welcome.... when i first started vaping i was just hoping to have the odd vape to reduce the number of fags i smoked and hence save a bit of cash ...but after a couple of days with the e-cig i found that my 20 a day turned into 4 a day without even trying ...i surprised myself how i just didnt think about having a fag no will power required at all

nightus Not tried the skycig, but have heard some good things about it, I started on a mini titan and progressed to a riva almost within a week of starting vaping as I found out that I'd need a much better battery and have never looked back I started on a menthol juice, having smoked menthol analogues but soon discovered the joys of different flavours Everyone's taste buds are different and you'll have fun experimenting Enjoy your vaping journey
