I have been testing a lot of juices lately and I am finding that with a lot of them I am getting a sensation of acrid slightly sweet burning at the top of my throat where the nasal passage meets the throat. Needless to say, this isn't nice! When I get a hit like this I really can't taste any flavour from the juice and can't taste much of anything for a while after.
I am wondering if this is a reaction to a common ingredient or if the juice needs steeping... or if I am just doing something wrong. Some of the juices I am getting this from I have had for 2 weeks or more, so I am thinking steeping is probably not the issue.
I am tasting them by dripping on a Mini Argento, so it's not a burnt cart or anything like that.
There are some juices I can vape constantly without getting this at all, but most are just giving me this horrible sensation.
I really can't figure out what the issue is. Has anyone else experienced this or have any suggestions for finding the cause?

I am on a quest right now for an all day vape... I have stupid amounts of test bottles to get through I suspect that a good vanilla will be my main all day vape. But I don't really think I will ever settle on a single juice, I like the idea of having a buffet of flavours at my disposal

Incidentally, I didn't know you had to steep the final mixed e-juice, I assumed that only flavour concentrates were concerned, so perhaps that explains why it doesn't taste great? It's just the final mix that requires steeping to allow all the components to be thoroughly combined and whatever chemical reactions are needed to take place. As I understand it, it's really only when nicotine is involved that real stepping is required as there is a chemical process which has to occur before that bad taste goes away. If you are just mixing PG/VG/Flavouring with no nic then vigorous shaking/mixing is all that's needed.

Celtic bounty sounds better than the others, as long as it hasn't got coconut in it So you don't like the taste of coconut... but you do like the taste of celts?

Follow a simple process of elimination. I will assume the juice is the problem - if it's an equipment issue then only a premade juice test will reveal it. I have no experience of mixing liquids, but based on what I have read and simple logic this is the process I would follow to find the most likely source of the problem. Do this with small quantities to avoid wastage. 1. Mix some juice with no nicotine - just mix some PG/VG with 1 flavouring. Maybe use less flavouring than you think you need, it doesn't matter if the flavour is weak, your main concern is getting a vape without the bad taste you are experiencing. If doing this gives you an ok vape then the most likely problem is the nic juice - steeping juices is neccessary to properly mix them, but from what I have read, this applies only to juice with nicotine content. 2. If step 1 resulted in a good vape, try adding nicotine to the next mix... if this causes a bad vape, it's likely that the problem is your juices need to steep. Steeping can be speeded up by lightly warming the juice for about an hour or so (place juice bottle in a dish of warm water or some place which gets warm but not hot) - try the juice again after an hour or so. 3. If step 1 produced a bad vape, try a no nic mix with only PG and flavouring to eliminate any issues with the VG. You can do the same with VG only but would need to thin it first. 4. If you still get a bad vape with no nic mixes, try vaping PG without any flavouring. Hopefully somewhere in the course of that process you should identify the component which is causing problems. Incidentally, you really should have some bare atomisers and a drip tip to do this and for testing any juices you make in future... it is going to be both costly and annoying to keep trying different mixes using cartos, clearos or any other container. Good luck with your testing

Believe it or not I can't remember exactly... there were a lot... it was a shopping frenzy... I think you can probably empathise I went for pretty much all the 5ml samplers that appealed to me... all the chocolatey, coffeeish, caramely ones... a few fruity ones, black cherry and blueberry I think... I think there may have been a few desserts and maybe some vanilla... RY4, because I have no idea what it is and feel I should... ohhh there were so many! I am going to be in vaping heaven

Excellent advice guys, thanks My Mini Argento arrived today, waaay sooner than expected! So a 306 atty is what I am going to get, that sounds like the perfect solution for me, they are out of stock at vapourhut though so I have to do some shopping around... fortunately, I am enjoying shopping around for vaping kit

I am at the stage where I am wondering what the best way to test lots of different flavours is... it really doesn't make much sense to me to fill a carto with an unknown juice only to find after the first few puffs that they will also be the last few puffs! I am guessing that dripping will be a popular answer, but I am not entirely sure what I need to do that - it's not something that appeals to me as a regular thing, but for testing flavours it makes sense. Right now I still only have GreenSmokes... which are not going to be any use for dripping. I have a V1P PCC from JacVapour due to be delivered tomorrow - should have come saturday but so far the postie only seems to want to deliver red cards, I swear the bugger doesn't even try knocking! I have also ordered a Mini Argento and a CE4 clearomiser which hopefully will arrive by the end of the week. But I am wondering what else I need for either of these devices to be able to drip test the hundreds of flavours I am eager to try. Apart from dripping, are there any other methods people use to try out new juice without wasting cartos?

Thank you all for the warm welcome and the recommendations Still undecided about my next purchase but currently leaning towards the V1P PCC starter kit from Jac vapour.

I'm new here and new to e-cigs, but already loving them I started just over a week ago with a green smoke starter kit... after just 2 days I had no desire to light up an old fashioned ciggy, which after over 20 years of smoking (and with a months supply of tobacco/cigs sitting here) was a huge surprise! I have no complaints about green smoke but I am looking for other options. Mainly because I was going to buy some extra green smoke batteries but then thought why spend £20 per green smoke battery when I could spend that on expanding my options... I like options. Now... right now, I don't have the time to get into researching all the options or setting foot on the road towards mod obsession (I am saving that fetish for when I have more time ). I just want to be able to try out lots of different flavours without being limited to what green smoke offers or faffing around trying to refill their cartomisers. So I am looking for some basic advice on what is available (in UK) and recommended. I want something that is cigarette shaped and sized (more or less). I don't know if I am ready to get into having to deal with a 3 part system... not sure how much more hassle that is than simply using cartomisers. I want to be able to experiment with any flavour, so something that is more or less like green smoke but gives me the option of blank/refillable cartomisers would be good. If it allows for more versatility... like being able to use cartomisers or seperate atomiser and cartridge for future experimentation then even better. I prefer auto to manual... at least at this stage. If anyone has experience with green smoke that would be great... I like the volume of vapor it produces and the flavours (some of them... although none taste bad). I am not sure about a lot of the terms that are used... so someone who knows how green smoke performs may be able to give better recomendations, although I would guess the liquid used has more to do with the experience than the equipment. Sorry for the slightly rambling and unfocused first post lol
