I was wondering about some sort of case. I suppose it would still bounce about in my bag though, so maybe best idea is to keep the cart off while it's being carried. I just wondered if everyone else got a mouthful of liquid or if I should be carrying it a certain way up. Or maybe I'm just filling my carts too full.

Thanks James. Yes I've been planning on getting a PCC anyway to keep charged up so I'll go ahead now and order one.

Yes, I wanted to whip it out sitting outside the coffee shop and look all casual and sophisticated. I ended up furtively spitting into a tissue!

I wondered if people have clever ways of transporting their ecig around? I put mine in the pocket of my bag, in a horizontal position, but I find that when I pull it out to use it I get a mouthful of liquid. I suppose it gets shaken up a bit when it's being carried around. Is it best to keep the cart off until I'm ready to use it?

'In his will, he has stated that he wants 20 cigs and a lighter to be buried with him.'
Lettie I couldn't help laughing at your dad's comment, it's the sort of annoying thing I've said myself just to persuade people to leave me alone!
I've got a fit, healthy, non-smoking GP who has been gently chiding me about my smoking for 20 years, but in a very good-humoured way. I've always been very fit in spite of smoking, but I had a really bad chest infection in the winter and the cough has lingered on and on. When I saw him a few weeks ago and said I was thinking of trying ecigs he said he would be pleased if I gave it a try because anything was better than the real thing. He believes that the available stop-smoking aids are only successful with the minority of people who truly want to stop anyway, and that ecigs shouldn't be condemned out of hand, because they might succeed where other things fail. As he said, we can't know yet that ecigs are safe, but we know the others are not.

Hi Lettie. I'm very new to this too. I was amazed how quickly I come to prefer ecigs. I've been laughing about the ashtray comments, I still carry mine off with me when I'm going to sit down and vape. Ken, I loved your story about smoking in the taverna. We holiday in Greece twice a year, I love it. I couldn't settle down to enjoy one of those lovely long-drawn-out Greek meals for hours without smoking, but like you I was beginning to feel uncomfortable about it although it seems to be accepted everywhere. I won't need to worry when we go next time (late August).

Chrissie, you're so kind the way you go hunting for good deals for people! Thank you for that link, it's the best deal I've seen so far. Thanks pixietricks for your tips too.

Thank you all for your replies and advice. I've been away for a couple of days so only just been reading them. (Went to visit my lovely sister in Wales. She's always worrying about me smoking, and she was sooo chuffed to see me puffing on my new ecig. It's worth it just to see her happy face. She's going to try to convert a couple of her friends now, using me as a reference.) I've been pleased with my automatic 901, so I think as you reliable people seem happy with either then sometime soon I'll try the manual 510 so I can see which I prefer. (You hit the spot too Jaki, I don't need any more lines!) I'm going to be sensible though and spend my pocket money this time on spare bits like extra atomisers for my 901. In particular I'd like a PCC to make it all a bit more manageable when I'm away from home.

I'm a bit boring. Like lolli I love the B&H and L&B I got from James. Has anyone tried the Golden Virginia from OKSmokey? Or any others for that matter. I'm thinking of ordering the 510 triple travel pack, and I can choose 2 samples to try. Wish I was a bit more decisive - I usually spend so long weighing up pros and cons before I actually DO something that I miss the bus!

I've been enjoying my 901 so much that I thought I'd get another one now in case it gets lost/broken etc, and maybe try something different. Just doing some research so that I can make another good choice. I still like something that looks and feels like the cigs I'm used to and I was wondering whether to try a 510 since that seems to be another one you recommend here. My 901 has automatic batteries. I notice lots of ecigs have manual ones, are there any particular pros and cons?

Ken, like you I started ecigs just a few days ago and I agree with everything you said. I decided not to put any pressure on myself, kept old and new side by side planning to introduce ecigs gradually. I would have been happy if ecigs just helped me to cut down a little on the others. To my surprise I found I was reaching for the ecig more often and enjoying it more. My only problem is that there's no natural end to an ecig and I sometimes puff away for ages without noticing. I think I need to set a timer! I would never have got going without the help and advice from everyone here. In fact I've got another question now and I'm just about to start a new thread!

First of all, hello to Jo and a big thank you to Jaki. It was so kind of you to offer to send some liquid if mine didn't arrive. Happily James turned out just as reliable as you all said, and mine was here Wednesday morning (well, afternoon, we don't get our post here until about 1pm!) I said here on Wednesday that I was already quite impressed. I got through 7 'real' cigs that day, and so far only 3 today. What has really delighted me is that I've found today that when I feel like a smoke I reach for my ecig although it lives side by side at the moment with my packet of cigarettes. I've still got lots to learn, and some stocking-up to do, but so far so very good. I've been wondering today - would an ecig set off those smoke alarms that have been put in certain no-smoking zones?

Hello Beeper. I'd like to second what Hissie said. A few months back I tried a disposable (Gamucci) and didn't rate it at all. I also tried a starter kit from a mail order catalogue, another disappointment. I would have given up on the idea if I hadn't found this board recently. I received a DSE901 from Liberty Flights yesterday. I'm waiting for some juice to arrive, but in the meantime I charged it up and had a go with the supplied cartridges last night. I was quite impressed with the performance, so I'm feeling optimistic that once I get used to things and get my own choice of liquid I can make the switch to e-cigs. I'm so grateful to everyone here for the clear information, and of course the encouragement.
