I've been enjoying my 901 so much that I thought I'd get another one now in case it gets lost/broken etc, and maybe try something different. Just doing some research so that I can make another good choice. I still like something that looks and feels like the cigs I'm used to and I was wondering whether to try a 510 since that seems to be another one you recommend here. My 901 has automatic batteries. I notice lots of ecigs have manual ones, are there any particular pros and cons?

Personally, I prefer manual batteries. You can press the button a second or so before you take a puff and that warms up the atty, so it is less effort and you tend to get a stronger vape. Plus less lines around the mouth On the downside, the buttons can get stuck on a manual and burn out your atty/themselves. I like the 901 as it gives good flavour and vapour. It's a good plan to have a back up. If you are after more automatic batteries, have a look at Simon's site www.liberro.co.uk/. Before he changed the company name he was selling off his automatic batteries for just over £4 each with free postage. He doesn't have them on the site now but if you look in the bottom right hand corner, you'll see he says to phone him for sale items.

Inn,
I use the 510 with manual battery and am well pleased with it.
As Jaki says some people have been having problems with the button sticking.
The reason I went for the manual was because I thought it was a safer option as I remember reading here that some of the automatics are sensitive to loud sounds and breezes and have been known to to go on by themselves. Also I think someone said that because the automatic battery is not sealed it is at risk if the atty leaks into it.
Ken.

I know what you mean inn, I too still like using the 901 & 510, simply because they're nearer the size of a real cig. I've got 8 altogether, 6 of them automatic. I slightly prefer the automatic, but also quite happy with the manual. There's no right or wrong, it's what you like that matters. They're both good, in their way. When I use the 510 I think it's better than the 901 ........but.........when I use the 901, I think I prefer that - lol There isn't a great deal in it, for me, but that's just my humble opinion. The 510 does burn hotter tho. I like them all. I'd go for the best deal, if any are still on special offer. Good luck

Ken, from memory, I think the ones sensitive to sound etc are some of the M series - Intellicig, Mirage etc.

I used only a 901 for a couple of months Inn and thought I wouldn't be very keen on a manual ecig, couldn't be further from the truth am loving my Riva and hardly notice I'm even using a button to operate it.

I read it somewhere on the forum but can't remember where now. So the automatic 510 does not have that problem then ? I have ordered another 5 manuals from OK Smokey but I'm used to them now so no harm done. Ken.

Not got any experience with automatic, but I don't think pressing the button on a manual is that much of a hardship.
I guess the only way to be sure is to buy one of each & see what feels better.

Ken, again from memory, I'm fairly certain there haven't been any problems with the 510 auto batteries being activated by sound/vibrations etc. But I could be wrong

Thank you all for your replies and advice. I've been away for a couple of days so only just been reading them. (Went to visit my lovely sister in Wales. She's always worrying about me smoking, and she was sooo chuffed to see me puffing on my new ecig. It's worth it just to see her happy face. She's going to try to convert a couple of her friends now, using me as a reference.) I've been pleased with my automatic 901, so I think as you reliable people seem happy with either then sometime soon I'll try the manual 510 so I can see which I prefer. (You hit the spot too Jaki, I don't need any more lines!) I'm going to be sensible though and spend my pocket money this time on spare bits like extra atomisers for my 901. In particular I'd like a PCC to make it all a bit more manageable when I'm away from home.

Hallo I started with an automatic (401) and then moved on to a manual 510 and haven't regreted it at all. It puts me more in control. I use the Tornados now and they work out quite cheap when bought as a box of 5. I've tried the 901s as well. When I first bought one, I was convinced it wouldn't work for me unless it looked like a real cigarette but after a couple of weeks it didn't matter at all!
