I use a home built Heatermeter with a pit controller, it's all wi-fi enabled & I can control the temp from the PC. Will take some pics next time I use it.

One month today off the fags, the longest I have gone without in 43 years. Don't post a lot cos I'm shy & retiring but follow the forum with great interest and learn so much, a fantastic resource - thank you all

Watching this with interest as my first TC mod should be getting off the slow boat any day now. Like @scooby I'm also a smoker, the BBQ kind is the only kind of smoking I do now. All my BBQ stuff is in Fahrenheit so you get used to it after a while. Got used to it and all the early info was in F and most of the info now is so it saves on conversion errors with mental arithmetic. I got my 1st DNA40 in Oct, 2nd in Dec & Kinxin in June none of these do Celsius. I have a DNA40 gold and a DNA200 arrive today and will use them in Fahrenheit, but for most things I am metric. Your right it's what you get used to and after all it's only a number as the tests of all the various device scorch tests show I hot smoke and when looking for recipe inspiration all the Brisket, pork, rib etc info on the web is in F, that's the only time I'm none metric, I just got used to it.

Hey Gary Horder in a very similar position to you. Been off the stinkies for nearly 4 weeks now having given up on vaping about 18 months ago. Also have a box full of antiques, vivi novas, cloned mech mods and even a few kayfun clones. I opted for the subtank mini, coupled with Istick 50w to get going, and they've been great so far. Still catching up with the technology and have 2 temp control mods on their way from China. In the past I was never able to fully substitute vaping for smoking, but lung inhales on a RTA really hits the spot for me. Hope you keep it going

I've just ditched a load of custardy juices that were 18 months old. Tasted them first and they had lost the high notes, that is, there was a vague underlying vanilla/buttery flavour but no real taste, at least to my palate. Did try mixing them all together and adding a sharp fruit flavour to try and rescue them, but didn't really work, so took the plunge and washed them down the sink. Much prefer the newer mixes I have just got my hands on.

Thank you for the words of wisdom Perpetua. I've got loads of stuff "in the post", unfortunately they are still using donkeys & carts to move it around the country. Hopefully I'll have some Shake n Vape concentrates, & some ready made juices arriving soon. Once I have enough in stock to vape on a daily basis, I can work on developing some patience.

Think I need to buy some Tiramisu concentrate I confess to not being good on the patience thing. Only just recently returned to vaping and having real problems with tasting anything at the moment. Hence tryiing out new recipes with my currently limited resources, and not giving them the time they need. I have a very limited selection of juice, although there's quite a few in the post...Every evening all the juices I have start to taste of nothing at all, the only one with a hint of flavour left is Red Astaire, and that's only becasue of the menthol. I've started drinking tonic water in the evening to try and kickstart the tastebuds. Some good tips here, thank you all, will be more disciplined when I restart my mixing journey properly.

While I'm waiting for a shipment from Chefs Vapour, I started going through my box of home made juices that never made it. Most of them are failry black now, made over 18 months ago, and TBH, despite the label, I'm not too sure what's in them. That's because I find a nice looking recipe, buy all the bits, make it up & let it steep. For one reason or another it doesn't meet expectations, so I fiddle with it a bit, add a bit of this, a bit more of that, all the time trying to maintain the nic & vg where I want it. This rarely works, if it does work then I've vaped it without really knowing what was in it, if it doesn't work it gets put back in the cupboard.
I know that I'm not disciplined enough at keeping records, although I have been using dot1ml.com to try and keep track. I should also be making up 10ml testers, but find that dealing in small fractions of a ml makes it all a bit tedious, so I usually make 30ml as a minimum, just because the quantities are easier to deal with.
So I've got a load of failed juice that I have now put into one 500ml bottle that will almost certainly end up down the sink. There's a sort of reluctance to flush it away though, all that expensive nic and flavourings, despite the fact it probably tastes terrible.
What do you do with your failures? When do you "give up" on a recipe and decide to bin it? Do you try and recover it and make something else, or just write it off?

Missed this earlier, returning vaper and the cupboards are bare, so would love a selection to play with. I do have history on here, but have recently retired to Portugal, can we do a deal with me paying the extra postage?

Had a "doh" moment this morning, rebuilt a mini RBA about three times. Dry hits & horrible flavour....was using one of those muji cotton pads and realised that I had cut the wick material across the grain instead of with the grain. I was wondering why it was so difficult to pull the wick through the coil without it feeling as if it was going to fall apart. Now I know

Thanks for the steer jess I have to look up Black n Blue now, not sure if it's a home brew or made up juice. Waiting on a delivery form Chefs Vapour for some concentrates, might need to add some flavours to the next one if it's a home brew. Apart from Red Astaire I don't have any pre made juices here, bit difficult to find suppliers, and postage from the UK is hideous for E Liquids. Might have to try and trade some of my mech mods collection for some juicy tasters.... Can just about make out my screen through the clouds she's blowing

My wife has had her Subox for a few days now & absolutely loves it, she's a vapour factory now and with the two of us in the same room you can barely see the walls. However, she seems very content to vape the same flavour forever, Red Astaire in her case. She did the same when we had previous attempts with Kayfuns & the like. Found one flavour she liked and more or less kept with it. I on the other hand, can't vape the same flavour for very long. What starts as a nice flavour very soon gets muted and I can't taste anything anymore. So I've got two subtanks on the go with contrasting flavours, usually a sweet one, then something completely different typically menthol based. In addition I'll have a dripper to hand and I may put 4 or 5 different juices through that in a day. Usually trying to eke some use out of some failed mixes. Have never found an all day vape, don't think my tastebuds would last the day. So how often do you change juice, do you have multiple devices on the go? I am waiting for a Chefs Vapour delivery, so fingers crossed may find something in the dozens of flavourings I will have in stock. And it's two weeks today since I had a fag, feeling secure now and completely convinced that I will never smoke again

Excellent - well done
What are the specs of the coils you made from twisted? I've got loads of .15 & .20 from ego days, would be good to find a use for it.
And excuse my ignorance, but what is CLC?
