Well...I bought the subox mini kit and love it. Love the fact that a battery lasts me a day, I can just swap batteries and that the tanks are gi-huge, never had so much juice in one tank! Now, I tried the OCC coils, bought a couple extra too, and they work fine, I've even managed to recoil one icon_faintbut I do prefer the rba deck, seems simpler to maintain somehow. so...subtank mini leaks, probably down to the wicking and the fact it doesn't like lying down, both tanks had this problem...and I only have .28, .25, .3 wire and couldn't make a decent sub ohm coil. off to you tube....twisted wire coils? mmmmm we have a drill, pliers and I have wire.... all tanks, 6 of them cleaned ready to recoil and wick and refill (tank maintenance day) Wire cut and spun in drill and oh my word, it worked. Made 4 lengths, thought I'd get ahead just in case it makes a coil. Sat down with coffee, spare tank and istick and made coils. Made one twisted wire for each rba, came out at .6 and .8 so I am very, very pleased with my little self. Made coils for the other protanks, and emow mega tanks. Two tanks put away clean and ready to go, others filled ready to vape, and sub tanks so far not spilling juice. i am one very happy vaper today, but I must, must, must make some more CLC cos I ain't got any, not even a drop. (Have ordered some Welsh custard from those chef wizards though) so folks, if you thinks you can't, well, you can cos if I can, anyone can. only bought into these bits of kit cos of the great peeps on here with honest reviews, hints tips and troubleshooting. You guys have kept me off stickies for more than a year, well over a year, which I never thought could happen.

Excellent - well done
What are the specs of the coils you made from twisted? I've got loads of .15 & .20 from ego days, would be good to find a use for it.
And excuse my ignorance, but what is CLC?

Just a quick note to say that during my recent instability, it was Jemma (?) at vanillavapes who encouraged me, along with lairey and a couple of others to get a Subtank as a fall back (previous fall backs had not been so great for me). It's proved amazing, especially with TC coils on my Kangix Min and kept me, alas not off, but duel fueling far less until I reached the point where I could pull myself together enough to recoil / wick. I never thought I'd find a viable regular tank.

I used .28 Kanthal A1 (I think the A1 bit is right but it's defo .28, cut off about 2 feet, folded in half, stuck the folded end in the drill, held the two other ends in the pliers and set the drill off, keeping tension on the wire (gentle tension) then used some of the wire to make a coil on a 2mm coil master stick thing, five wraps came out around .8 or 6 wraps around .9-1.0 ohm. Have twisted up three more lengths and they are all slightly different twists so probably will make slightly different ohm coils I suppose. and yes, CLC is the AAEC famous custard, the nearest I have found ready made is chefs vapour Welsh custard, silver blend. I think it comes pre steeped which is a massive help to me cos I really can't be organised enough to make enough to have a rolling stock!!! anyhoooo, the coils are holding up, although one is giving a few dry hits May have to rewick it very soon thanks for all the kind words peeps, I know most of your are way past this, but it's a biiiiig step for me.

Oh heck.....I only tried it cos I couldn't get a sub ohm coil from the wire I have. You tube is your friend, but it's not difficult and probably a lot of trial and error. subtank still leaks like a sieve off vertical though :'(it seems like once the wick is totally soaked it maybe doesn't stop the leaks? Have to try messing with it unless anyone has any tried and tested fixes?

Check out the guides section or click on the link in my sig. The wick should form a complete barrier either side between the juice holes and the coil/ air hole.

I haven't had any leaking issues with the Subtank either and I've rebuilt the OCC heads too. Except when I left it in a hot car for hours that is......

Yeah, wot Greg said. The wick must touch the deck floor above the juice flow holes and the sides of the atty cover sleeve. Once you get that right, clear a path down the side of of the atty cover sleeve to allow juict to get in to the wick. I use a straightened paper clip. As long as there is no path from the juice to the air flow hole, subtanks never leak unless you lose/forget/break a seal.
