I may be way off the mark here, still waiting for my first TC mod from FT, so no direct experience, but I am puzzled.
I understand the advantage of TC for an RDA, where you can't see the juice level, and if you forget to top up, you get a dry hit & burnt cotton. But with a tank system, you can see if you have juice in the tank, and with most modern tanks you shouldn't be getting dry hits ever.
So what's the point of TC on an RTA?

Thanks for sharing guys. It seems to me that one of the interesting facets of vaping is the way you can tailor the experience to your personal preference. It's almost infinitely variable, devices, batteries, juice flavours & strengths, & even how you choose to inhale, all make a difference. Each to their own, and it's a fascinating voyage of discovery to determine what works for you. Still on my voyage, and whilst I'm sure I will never buy another cigarette, I can't wait for the next innovation to try out. Just ordered a TC mod, just a DovPro, but will be on the lookout for the next shiny (or carbon fibre) thing that robby finds a good deal on. In the meantime looking at how to coil nickel although it now seems titanium is the way forward. Interesting & exciting times

I first started vaping nearly three years ago, and despite lots of efforts with vivi novas, genesis atomisers, mech mods & the like never managed to get completely off the cigarettes. I used to find the genesis & even a trident RDA far too airy & with 24mg nic I still wasn't getting what I needed. I even made up some 40mg juices for use in my Kayfun clones, still not good enough. Essentially I gave up trying and went back to the ciggies full time.
Wind forward & my how things have changed. Subtanks, wide bored RDAs (got a mutation V3) and full lung inhales. Suddenly it all seems to work for me, 6mg of nic with straight to lung really hits the spot. Took a little bit of effort to get through the coughing & settling on a nic level, but the clouds and the flavours....wow
I don't see very much advice to newbies (I'm a re-newbie) on the differences between inhalation techniques and what an incredible difference it can make to the vaping experience. IMHO you also need to match your atomiser and nic levels to your style of inhalation.
How do you vape? and on what type of device? Mouth to lung or straight down? High nic or low nic?
Curious to see if my experience is common

My second time around, but one week without a fag, doesn't sound a lot to many of you, but to me it's epic

Happy vapeaversary @mod Destroyer hopefully mods are less easy to destroy these days I remember fiddling about with tubes, batteries, centre pins on the 501 connector and on the attie. On some mods it was really a black art just to get some power to the atomiser in the first place. It was like tubular meccano, but more difficult. How do you tag?? seem to have got it wrong

Ordered a Plume Veil & Royal Hunter RDA from fastech this morning. Bought a Mutation x V3 from the B&M shop in Albufeira too. Happily vaping and no cigarettes.
Just got to catch up on coil building, so You Tube will be my friend over the next few days.

Major shopping trip this morning to the only half serious shop in the Algarve. Another Istick 50w, subtank mini, some VG, some flavours and a Mutation X V3 RDA. I had some very old Tjuice concentrates and some made up juices, all at 22mg. So have been trying to dilute the juices down to 6mg nic, whilst upping the VG & retaining the flavour. I used an online calculator and think I have managed to get half decent versions of Vamp Vape, Red Astaire & Jack the Ripple, with a touch of extra raspberry. Have also managed to coil and wick the atomizers, first serious go at sub ohm coils, 0.6 is the lowest I have tried so far, although I am desperate to have a play at the hardcore stuff A couple of years ago I really thought that I would never get any real satisfaction out of vaping, and struggled, unsuccessfully, to totally give up ciigarettes. I had never tried direct to lung inhaling, don't think my gear would have supported it, so am really astonished at how great it is to get clouds & flavour. Really think I'm on the way to getting it cracked this time around. Didn't have a ciggie this morning, for probably the first time in 43 years or so, and not missing it at all..... Already resurrected my old Fastech account with an order for some clone RDAs, oh dear the bug is starting to bite again. Will have to dig out my old box of gear and donate it to some sort of museum, or more likely sling it in the bin. What an excellent place this forum is, I've needed to research all the advances, and a simple search on here usually turns up the answers and insights I'm looking for. So a huge thank you to all the contributors, an incredible resource for new (and returning) vapers. Sorry for the rambling post....excited

Thanks for the thought chykensa, I've been looking around some of the Chinese sites today with exactly that in mind. I managed to find some T juice concentrates in my box of bits, along with some made up juice at 22mg. So I did the calculations and hopefully have managed to add flavour and VG to bring the nic down to about 8mg. Am now vaping that in the subtank mini. So far so good, all the juice is at least two years old, but still usable. Inclined to bin all the other random mixes & start again, so all I have for the moment is vamp vapes & jack the ripple. Have a huge shopping list for a trip to the vape shop in Albufeira on friday. Another Istick & subtank, some VG, a pile of flavours and a decent RDA if they have one. The choice is likely to be very limited 4-vapor.com/?product_cat=rda Still have a stock of kanthal, but looking at some of the modern builds will be needing some .42 as well. Will also order a cheap RDA from China, haven't decided which one yet but will be trawling the reviews on here for some inspiration. The amount of vapour I am getting from the subtank is awesome, so much better that anything I have tried before. Can't wait to try sub ohms in a cloud chasing RDA, just for the fun of it Have also only smoked 2 cigarettes today, going for a cig free day tomorrow. If I make it, it would be more or less the first time in 43 years oooerrrrr

I ordered a BBQ controller from China in early April. Beginning of June I had a registered letter from the post office asking for the receipt, my tax number and proof of purchase that detailed the item. All this to ensure that I will be taxed appropriately and that the supplier wasn't declaring a lower price. I sent them copies of all that on the same day, and they replied saying that the details had been sent to the customs. I know from the trackng number that it landed n Portugal in early May. It has been stuck in customs ever since. I have no idea when I'll receive it, could be months yet, and almost certailny will have to pay VAT & import duty, all on a $30.00 bit of kit.
I think for vaping gear I will get it sent to the UK, then one of my family members can send it on to me here.

Thought I was quite an experienced vaper, albeit out of date with the latest developments. Just spent a pleasant hour putting dual coils on an old trident RDA I had kicking around. Came out at .6hm and have been trying direct to lung inhaling with a very old low nic juice. What a revelation, the juice must be 2 years old & very dark, but tastes fab at 30 watts.
In the past I made all juices at 22mg or thereabouts, but found myself having a cigarette, even immedialtely after vaping, just wasn't getting satisfied. I even made up some 44mg juice, which I still have somewhere, to try and satisfy the lack of nicotine. This direct inhaling seems to make all the difference for me, not sure why I'm not coughing as much as I used to, maybe simply the lighter nic ratio. Wish I had persevered a bit more first time around.
So I now have a boxfull of random flavours, all at 20mg or so, and most over two years old. Very tempted to bin the lot and start again. May have a play with diluting a few first & see how we go.
So with enthusiasm restored off to trawl all the new goodies out there. Having "retired" to Portugal earlier this year it's not quite as easy to get stuff from China over here, and there isn't much choice in the Algarve.
Many thanks to all the contributors - really really useful stuff.

Some great info on this thread. I'm a returning vaper & have just bought an IStick 50 & a subtank mini. In the past I was using Kayfuns & Russian clones on mech mods, both have restricted airflow but vape well at 8-12 watts. I have just built the subtank RBA to my normal 1.2ohm and find it way too airy for my style of vaping. There's so little air resistance that I start coughing immediately with my normal 20mg juices even on the lowest air setting.
Having read this thread it seems that I should try the subtank with lower nic juice and inhaling direct to the lungs. Hoping I can work my way through the coughing fits.....Been back on the cigarettes for the last a8 months or so, hoping that I can find a setup that will allow me to quit them for good.

Been a long time since I've posted on here. Returning vaper, having fallen off the wagon some time ago. Still have a box full of Lava tubes & ancient juice hanging around somwhere, even got an original penelope tucked away. Have decided to go again and need some help deciding my first purchases. Now living in Portugal, so the choice and prices aren't what you guys are used to in the UK. I'm going to a vape shop this afternoon, and I would like to come away with a VW box mod & an RBA. (Will be resurecting my Kayfun clones later). Think I have decided on a subtank mini for the RBA (keeping it simple), but the mod technology has moved on now, so unsure which one to go for. My options are: IStick 50w Xpro M80 plus There are a couple of other options here: 4-vapor.com/?product_cat=vvvw but not all are in stock. Any advice please? Thank you

Do this one guys, & if you're a bloke over 50 get your PSA level tested, ask your GP.
It could save your life - I did & it has....
