Thanks for the positive feedback everyone, I think it does make a big difference meeting these people face to face, you have got them in a corner so to speak and you can come back at them immediately with any misconceptions or argument they may have. You just need to have a good idea of what you are going to say and what order you are going to say it in before you go in, having said that I had about 3 A4 size pages memorised in my head, which mysteriously disappeared from my brain as soon as I went in to his office Hifistud (Dave) I did point him towards the Clive Bates blog and the Jerry Stimson clip on you tube

I have just had an extremely fruitful meeting with my MP John Pugh (Lib Dem) Sat down with him and plonked my e-cig (Ego vision 1000) down on his desk along with a bottle of HS delight which he was extremely interested in and proceeded to tell him of "my journey" with e-cigs. I then told him about the impending tobacco products directive (which he had not heard about) and had a good half hours discussion with him. The out come was that he is 100% behind us and was quite perplexed why the EU was getting involved and regulating for regulation sake (his words), at which point I mentioned Big Pharma etc which he took on board. I told him about harm reduction and explained the ludicrous situation that if this ban comes into effect 750,000 people who are now vaping in the UK will go back to smoking over night, to which he wholeheartedly agreed with. He is now going to write to the department of health and will be speaking to our MEP and also bringing the subject up with a couple of ministers. He seemed genuinely pleased to run with this and will be keeping me informed, so all in all it went very well and we seem to have another influential ally

Meeting my MP tomorrow (Sat at 11am) it's John Pugh Lib Dem, he was quite vocal during the smoking ban legislation so hopefully that will work in our favour, will report back tomorrow

Don't you just hate it when you just cant seem to taste your vape , this has happend a few times to me now, it normaly lasts one or two days, What is it that causes it and is there anything you can do to get em working again. Same with me mate, I've never been able to taste much no matter what flavour I buy The first day I started I could taste OK but since then I can't taste anything in the morning then around mid day I can taste slightly and towards the end of the day I can't taste anything at all and I only used to smoke 20 marlboro lights a day so not a heavy smoker But I'm getting my nicotine so I'm happy because I could never taste fags anyway

Interesting, it doesn't say anything about nicotine, smoking or giving up. Not sure what the regulations say about showing an e-cig being used in an advert, are they allowed to or have they chosen not to? I would expect them to be restricted about saying it's an aid to quitting but couldn't they say it's an alternative to smoking? It doesn't actually say anything, it just directs you to their web site and have you noticed it doesn't show any one using one

I don't think It's a coincidence that all this advertising has appeared so soon after the EU directive fiasco (see my similar post) it looks like the big e cig companies are organising an attack

Listening to Smooth radio today on my travels and e lites have been advertising on there all day, first time I've heard any advertising of e cigs on the radio, I was under the impression it was banned

That is an excellent letter and an example to us all and there is no need to be knowledgeable about government, in fact it is an advantage not to be, it's a letter from a real person about a real situation

what makes my blood boil about this reply is, these are the people who are deciding the future of e cigs and it is blatantly obvious that they know absolutely nothing about them - this quote for example
"On the other hand e-cigarettes currently can contain up to 48mg of nicotine - far more than a regular cigarette, making them highly addictive."
This guy must think that there is some kind of look a like e cig that contains 48mg of nicotine, unbelievable absolutely unbelievable
Than there is this -
"Furthermore, there is no evidence that e-cigarettes are safe,"
Erm sorry but there is, and more importantly there is no evidence that they are unsafe.
And another -
"As nicotine is the drug that makes cigarettes addictive, somebody that tries e-cigarettes could be much more likely to go on to smoke regular cigarettes"
Sorry again, the normal route is that they will try the market leader in nicotine delivery first off, the market leader being a CIGARETTE, and just as an aside, imagine a vulnerable teenager having a toot of Dave D's 48mg RY4555444 in his super duper Provarlavatubesilverbullet, it would blow his bloody head off and he would never go near a chrome tube again.

Thanks guys, it would be interesting to see if that 0.5% year on year reduction has increased since the introduction of e cigs, I'm sure it will impact on the figures dramatically in the future, although big Pharma will be scrambling for the glory on that one

Thanks guys, that's excellent, I think I will e mail ASH and see how these figures were estimated. I don't want to to go to this meet "half cocked" it comes from years of negotiating with management as a shop steward
