Well my report on using 0.3mm gauge is that it's an experiment doomed to failure - don't try it I managed to get about 7 wraps onto some 2mm silica wick (which took some very determined use of clamps and a wire-turner) and even that got a reading of 1.3 ohms. There just isn't enough space in the head to get the extra 3-4 wraps you'd need, so a couple of quid down the pan, but you live and learn and it's improved my winding ability no end having to improvise how best to get 7 wraps into such a small space 0.2mm will be on order in the next few days though ! One thing I did find is replacing the loose bits of the wick that sit on top of the coil with 4 strands of 1mm silica really sort out the gurgling/leaking problems I had. I did that to all my coils that are still working and they seem watertight now.

Great thread Mark. Looks like a good deal for anyone wanting some samplers. Something for everyone in there by the looks of it.

Morag, the condom method is great for filling em up to start with, but they're best off being filled by a bit of dripping at the top once you've done that. You can flood them if you only use the condom thing and they do wear out. How long have you used those cartos ? If it's anything past a week, then they can just die. Some of them do last 2 weeks, but htat's being optimistic although I only have one carto that really has 'popped', where the coil has actually burnt out. Look up some youtube vids on cleaning out carto's or at least run them through with hot water and let them sit for 24 hours. There's a bloke called PBusardo on youtube who does a great video on how to clean out your cartomisers. I did a quick search.... Edit : I have no idea how that video appeared like that. It's a good vid, but hey, I feel quite advanced with this link thing now *struts around the room *

Thanks Figgis, I'm thinking you have a more technical mind than myself I'm not seeing myself rebuilding them (or anything else) This forum would be full of questions if I tried that! But I'd manage to put in replacement heads (I think) thanks I'll give a kanger a go when I place my next order. I wouldn't recommend something that was rubbish that's for sure, and maybe you're right, I am quite into the rebuildable side of things and so on, but (without being patronising) I did find the T3 very simple. Just replace a £2.50 head every 2 weeks, you unscrew one, and screw another one in, it's as simple as opening an envelope. Absolute doddle.

It's my first go, so ultimately it's no bad thing to get it wrong and Kanthal is only a couple of quid. I actually have my 'challenge' head on now to get it working whatever anyone says

woo hoo that's great Figgis, is the Kanger T3 a clearo then? And is that whats referred to as a tank? I suppose it is a tank. Not sure that's how a lot of oldbies would consider it, but that's how I see it. If you have a Riva kit it's the equivalent of the Clearo you get with that kit. I just got so arsed off with the one I got pushing down the pin, leaking, then not working (everything Bebe talks about) I just chucked it in the bin, literally. It just didn't work. The T3 looks pretty much the same, but instead of wicks coming down the inside of it, it's a 'tank' that you buy the outer part, then buy replacement 'heads' for the bottom part which just screw in (they're £2.50 a pop and last about 2 weeks). I just found them so much easier and I have no skin in the game as to which is best. I fill it up with a couple of mls of juice in the morning and it just works. There are some issues with it, it's not foolproof, the 'gurgling' issue they have can be solved by keeping it above 1ml of liquid, and they do like a regular clean, but I like them. There's actually something called a Kanger Evod, which is a bugger to get hold of, but costs the same price, and is supposed to iron out the problems the T3 had. These things are advancing every couple of months

A couple of suggestions Bebe, some of which you've tried . . . Has the clearomiser died? How long have you had it, they don't last forever. Try raising the centre pin a bit higher - you've tried that. Try an alternative cartomiser from the kit, see if that works with your battery. Does the battery light flash eratically? Edit to say: Too late me, you're sorted. Lol, thanks for all the suggestions I'm KIND of sorted... There was a bit of vape, suddenly? ??? Almost like it should be? Maybe it was a bit wet or something? Ooooh, just had a real vape then!! And another!!!, What do you all think was the problem? Should I buy more batteries, just incase? Phew! Don't want to panic like that again, lol. Get better clearomisers, or only use cartomisers. I got sick to death of clearos because of this issue until I realised that bloody thing caused the same problem all the time, binned it, bought some Kanger T3s (other options are available) then never had it again.

The clearo I got with the Riva kit 'always' pushed the centre pin down. I binned it within a few days because of this problem. Try the cartomisers to get it working, not that clearo.

OK. First, don't try to get it working with a clearo. As Andy says above, they'er liable to just pop and the one with the Riva kit isn't great to start with.
2nd, get some paper towel and give each of your Riva batteries a good clean around the top. Ideally with vodka, or some kind of spirit.
3nd, Try every cartomiser you have. Do any of the 5 you have work ?
It's unlikely both of your batteries have gone.

Can you contact the Vendor and ask them to change your order for you Figgis? I suppose I could, I still don't know if 0.2 is the right way to go as I only use Egos and Rivas. If 0.3 just lowers resistance then I suppose I just need more wraps. I did see a video by Todd that used a 0.32 gauge at 5 wraps and he suggested that it was a tight fit, so assumed it was the right way to go. This thread has just confused me some.

OK, emergency, but don;t panic, work through it. The 1st 2 questions to ask.
Are you using the clearo that came with the kit ?
Does a cartomiser work ?

It's weird how you associate closely with people who started vaping about the same time. You're one of them Dave mate ! Great to see you giving recommendations. I can't believe we got to this point. See also : WhamBamSam, IrishCas, Lozzy (seems to have disappeared), Monchai, Moblee - probably a few I've missed but it keeps you going on the vaping (Did I mention I have horrible cravings of a Friday and I need encouragement ) Sorry to go off topic

Hi Rich, Welcome to AAEC. The irony of ECF is that it's UK based But it is a gold mine for in-depth information. The Septics do know how to do an earnest video Got to love 'em.
