Hello again, long time no post, hope you are all thriving still and enjoying your ecigs like I do. Of course I only turn up when I want something... I'm looking for good but cheap batts for Lavatube version 1, preferably with safe chemistry and s/c protection, even if it's not strictly necessary. I'm running a pair of spares at the moment, like these www.mojurepublic.com/products/18650-High-Drain-Rechargeable-Batteries-%282%29.htmlbut I'd like some with higher capacity, 2000mAh+ to last all day. The v1 Lavatube uses shorter than normal 18650s. Suggestions most welcome. particularly if they're acceptable to my wallet-moths. Ta.

You caught my hidden message there, Roger. However, it's just an opinion. I'm sure there are people who will enjoy reading Ayn Rand or Goodkind. They're both still in print after all.

Yes, it's just as well it's practically unreadable. Very influential politically in the US though, sadly (from my point of view anyway). Goodkind's work is basically Ayn Rand's utopian individualism, disguised with swords. Only the 'strong' deserve to survive etc. Yuk.

I'm mostly reading police procedurals set in LA at the moment, quite enjoying Michael Connelly, just finished James Ellroy's LA Quartet which I liked a lot, but I stalled on his later stuff about politics. I will definitely have a go at Bukowski, been meaning to for years. Gormenghast is ace. My guilty pleasure is Jack Vance, who writes ludicrous fantasies of no merit, but his writing style is so beautiful and amusing. 'Cugel's Saga' is the place to start. It's like a childrens' book in many ways, but Vance is sly, with prose as elegant as Wodehouse. I also recommend, for the low-commitment literature crowd, Kurt Vonnegut. maybe start with 'Breakfast of Champions'. Also Richard Morgan - Takeshi Kovacs series Neal Stephenson - Baroque Cycle Terry Goodkind is an Ayn Rand acolyte. I advise that nobody gives him money on the grounds that a) he can't write for toffee and b) he's a social Darwinist so he is basically asking to be poor. I've just realised that most of the books I read are guilty pleasures. Oh well.

Thanks everyone, and Happy Birthday Pixie. I had a lovely weekend in Devon staying with some friends, even a bit of sunshine.

Flavour is very clean out of the box but you'd also realistically need other kit. Resistance wire, fibre wick probably, stainless steel mesh, Ego type A tanks and caps.

Different beast really, more physically robust and more technical than the Vivi, which is more a mass market item with some replaceable parts.
This is closer to a fully rebuildable iMist, designed to allow completely customised rewicking and coiling.

I did put a tank cap on before I tried it! It still emptied. The point really was the one you are both making - using it with tanks it's vital to build a good spike wick to regulate flow out of the tank. Scott's vid for the bulli has a good method, so I'll try it when I get around to ordering some steel mesh. Edit: vid here I found it a doddle to redo the main coil, really simple. I'll also try to get hold of a type B cone (somehow, not sure how the threading will work out, maybe Callum will stock some that fit?) and B tanks, which will make it really versatile and hopefully competitive with 1.6ml Visions which are still my main squeeze. This one is more for experimental fun at the moment.

Just got mine today, it's very similar to a bulli in overall design except that the very small screws to fix the coil go in at the side of the terminal posts, while the wire itself pokes into the hollow tops of the posts, so a tiny watchmaker's screwdriver is needed.
I don't object to this design at all, but would probably have been spitting tacks if I didn't have a tiny screwdriver already. (In a bulli the screws have larger heads and screw in from the top, and you wrap the wire around the screws themselves.)
Build quality seems fine so far, though the wick it came fitted with was primitive, suitable for dripping perhaps. I think an ss or ss+fibre spike wick is probably desirable for use with tanks. When I tried it out, 1ml in the A type tank just emptied straight into the main chamber, and I'm supposing this could be a more civilized process with a proper spike wick in place.
I don't see how type B tanks can fit this without a different top cone. Haven't tried one I admit, because I don't have one.
Good price for a rebuildable and I'll be playing around with different wick configurations for ages. Need some ss mesh for the spike I think, to use this seriously with tanks.
Thanks Callum.

..Anyone that's looking to try a rebuildable on the cheap then you're not going to go far wrong with one of these You called? I've been expecting these in the UK, very happy with the bargain price too. I thought £25ish was a hobbyists price really. Anyhow I've ordered one to try, cheers Callum. It's probably worth having even as an emergency backup and I've got a bunch of A type tanks rotting in a drawer after my short-lived Ego C adventure.

I use small forceps rather than tweezers to get a decent grip, it's reasonably easy to get the cap through the top hole that way.
Mostly for quick rinsing I just use the Sandra method above, but for dry burns I remove the cap. But I'm moving on to V3 rebuildable Visions soon, which should allow for more thorough servicing.

There is a theoretical risk that a short circuit in the charging apparatus might damage your motherboard, but it's not a biggie to be honest. The charger itself should regulate the current it uses, so if the source (eg a 2000mA mains plug USB adaptor) is overpowered, the charger will draw only what it needs, say 500mA for trickle charging a battery. It's more of a problem if the source is underpowered, but that just results in slower charging normally. However, the voltages of the charger and source should match. For USB that's 5V. Edit: If any of that isn't clear, I can sometimes manage Engish too, just ask if confused.

The free bus pass will be nice though, Des. Just to whet the appetite, my favourite free apps Kingsoft Office - free office suite, including basic MS file formats Avast security Cool reader Teamviewer7 - controls the PC from anywhere in the house. Simple Notes, for to do lists and generally organising the chaos Best game - Pool master, Osmos HD (not free) I'm normally running my CPU at below half-speed, it's much more powerful than I need 95% of the time. Battery life is now brilliant. Would love to hear your review of the Nexus Des. When yiou get your hands on it of course.
