I have a BIG birthday coming too soon I have been thinking about getting a tablet for a while as I like to read emails, watch films and I player in bed. I don't do ITunes and refuse to have it on any of my PC's. I did try my DD's Ipad but I thought it would be too big and heavy to hold in bed. So was thinking about getting a Acer A110 7 inch tablet but it does not have a firm UK release date. then last week I saw the Nexus 7 from Google and took the plunge and ordered a 16gb version. The only minus I can see for me with is is it does not have a SD card socket (hence the 16GB) But it says it comes with on-line storage, I already use Dropbox quite a bit. I'm hoping it gets here for my birthday in just over 3 weeks time! Has anyone else recently bought an Android tablet? I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts.

"You Nexus? I design your eyes.." I just bought one of these www.amazon.co.uk/AINOL-NOVO7-ELF-II-supported/dp/B0087DA8YK/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1341232492&sr=8-3I was going to get a Kindle, but for the money I thought I could get an ereader + ipod replacement + mobile games platform + loads of other software. The Elf 2 is completely awesome, so glad I didn't get a Kindle. I hate technological walled gardens like the ipads too. It has SDHC and USB, which beats your Nexus, since I can fit a total of 72 GB of storage in a pinch. You will have better graphics and quad core compared to my dual core. You'll be dependent on hiring cloud space if you need lots of storage, so it depends what you decide to use it for. 16GB is OK though.

I have an Asus transformer which I got last year when they just came out. So early in fact I had to wait months to purchase the keyboard part which converts it from a pad into a notebook and gives lots more battery time.
I find it great for reading and watching films as well as lots of other things. Android is great on it and I have never had any problems.

They reviewed the Nexus on bbc 'click', think it was last episode. Up against the Kindle fire, they said the nexus was a better piece of tech. ...if that helps.

I caught that as well Azzie . . . plus the Sun did a piece on it the other day, not that informed a review it has to be said. Thanks Des for the ordering info.

Yep the Aurora 2 is exactly the same machine apart from the brighter screen and default 16GB flash. The Elf takes a 32GB micro SDHC card so I wasn't too bothered about internal storage, and the screen is fine. An anti-glare screen protector is worth having because the surface is very reflective. £7 at amazon. You'll probably want to get hold of an OTG USB mini adaptor as well, if you want it to host USB devices (like a mini keyboard or USB pen drives). Around a fiver. Make sure it's both mini USB (not micro) and OTG. Also needs a 2A charger either mains or USB. Cracking machine for the money, I may never have to leave my bed again.
