4 months for me - not had a ciggy since my first vape on the Riva. I have smoked for about 40 years, am 52 and did not really want to give up because I like smoking. But I never liked the after smell and hated what it cost. Never really tried before to give up, either.
Am absolutely thrilled with vaping and have fully converted 2 work colleagues, soon to be 2 sons (out of 3 - 3rd gave up cold turkey last year) and 2 more colleagues wavering......I think they have seen the ease with which I have done this and know then that it must work!
Enjoying trying new juices and discovering new likes......

Reminds me of old fashioned enema equipment - and I am old enough to remember using it.......

I like Vape Escape Gourmet range, just discovered Vermillion River and loving it, Mom and Pops from USA and Vapour Zone for basics at really good prices.

Have read this Bel as I too thought I may try no nic (or at least start the work towards) soon as I seem to be vaping far less than I did at the start. Can easily go for long stretches - hours sometimes - and it not even cross my mind. Not start the minute I get up etc.....Am usually on 16 - 20 mg nic but feel it is the smoke and ritual I am into rather than the nic.
But what you described is how I felt when I first started vaping - the headache was persistent for me for about 5 - 7 days and v poor concentration. But I stopped the fags!
So I'm not even going to try as only been vaping 3 months ish, and not had a ciggie and never really craved one even though I stand with smokers at work and my son at home still smokes as does me Mam.
I do think I would be able to in time though but I don't care if it takes years - after all, was on the fags for near on 40! And I gave up immediately after I started vaping.
Well done for trying though. And reporting on it.

Hi Shazza
I started, ooh 10 or 11 weeks back with a Riva 1100 from Jason at Vape Escape and haven;t looked back, There are 4 of us at work now, whiffling away.....
I think they are more streamlined and smaller than I thought they would be, IRL. I have stainless Steel and it looks elegant to me with a Stainless cartomiser and silver drip tip.
You soon get used to the whiffling technique, in my experience within minutes really. (whiffling is my term - I believe vaping is the norm!).
I ,too, have not had a ciggie since I started with the Riva, but I will be honest - I thought about them for the first 4 - 5 days or so, like wondering where they were, where the ashtray and lighter were etc but did NOT want one. I kept to my smoking routines too for the first 2 - 3 weeks, like going outside, having certain drags at certain times.
So, there you go, my endorsement!

I have 2 of these, one being VV to 5v bought from classifieds/modders here and love them. They are small and discreet but pack a punch.

I'm a nurse (that's not relevant but thought I'd chuck it in there!) and I've had high BP (medicated) since I was about 30. I had pre eclampsia (high BP plus other things!) very very early in all 4 pregnancies. I smoked for many years, since my teens. My Dad had high BP from age 40 and died after several heart attacks, (his first massive one at 60), DVTs and vascular dementia. He did not smoke or drink and was always slim and active. My Mum is 84, looks like death, has terrible heart function as a result of damage from undiagnosed underactive thyroid), (and has had from age 65 - so bad, she cannot have any kind of surgery under any kind of anaesthetic), has just been in hospital after a "turn", and has just smoked 220 cigs in ONE WEEK! BUT she has never had high BP in her life. Make of that what you will! This stuff is all guidelines - IMO a lot of what happens to us is genetic, and for some, nicotine does raise their BP to an unhealthy level. But clearly, not all. I also had pancreatitis last year and the number of times I was asked how much I drink (alcohol abuse being the commonest cause) - er, I don't, except a snowball at Christmas. Seriously, I'd rather have a cuppa any day, and do. However, the Bendrofluazide "water" tablet I had started 12 days previously to improve control of my high BP has this dreadful, potentially fatal, illness as a possible side effect...... So, not everything applies to everyone. And the "cure" is often worse than what it is intended to heal......you have to balance risk, is all. A happily whiffling Ali x

Oh, and we do call it "whiffling" in our HQ - I don't like the vaping word, sounds too similar to raping to me so I coined the term! We are in the healthcare business so terms can easily be mis heard - we also have a high preponderance of smokers, as per the norm for this business. I know, weird. Ali x

I am very happy with my Riva 1100 too as are my 3 converts! We ALL thought we wanted lookalikies too for our first venture but I followed the wisdom on here and persuaded them to do the same and none of us have regretted it. I have another convert whiffling away on one of my spares and Cocomel at the mo, giving it a try. Her second day tomorrow and may then also order a kit. I may yet conquer Merseyside..... Also great service from Blakey's bank manager at Vape Escape, otherwise known as Jason. Ali x

I got the awful mouth ulcers from weeks 2 - 4. All gone now. And terrible headaches for first few days that were not my usual migraine. After 6.5 weeks, I'm at the point where I think I need to cut the nicotine down, I am on around 18 - 20 mg and was a 20 - 25 a day smoker. I think because I sit and vape in the evening I'm getting too much and feel a bit nauseous and light headed. Just shows how all these guides are just guides, however as my workmate that I converted smoked ultra low Silk Cut about 15-20 daily. So we started her on 11mg - really not enough and she went up to my level and has been fine. The WAY she smoked though was different to me - she would puff away furiously and it would take me 4 times as long to smoke a fag than she did. I think she was getting big doses of nic where I was a more steady intaker.... As nursey, I can say you can develop a sensitiivity to anything over time - allergies don't usually happen on first exposure. So it is entirely possible that you were fine for a few days and then felt something was making you feel off. Hope you find your vaping holy grail soon. Ali x

I'm a Manc by birth. My first bought house was on Duke Street, then Cedar, then Upper Aughton and now in Ainsdale! Small world....
