Alreet beeper, The Riva cuts down on a lot of faffing about, no need to worry about re-charging it every coupla hours, so you made a good choice there. Of the friends I've introduced the Riva to, one is me mates Mam, she's 73, and another friend was a rolly smoker. If they can manage, anyone can The E-liquid strengths they went for were both 18mg, and so far it's been enough. They're both on Enjuice silver supreme, which is a nice smooth tobacco flavour. I've also heard nothing but good things of the tobacco Chrissie mentioned, though I've not tried it yet, though I do intend to as soon as my E-liquid stash diminishes. good luck, hope you enjoy it.

LR atties have quite a bit more power than regular types. They're perfect on the Riva. Make sure they're 510 though, as there's a few different types of LR atomisers.
The only downside to LR atomisers is they tend to wimp off a bit quicker than normal atties. I've been getting a week out of mine. with a normal atty, I get about 2 weeks before the power drops off.
any type of 510 atomiser is ok to use on the Riva

Spot on Kath With such a large and varied order, I hope they put some sort of indication on the atomisers, as to which type and whether they're LR or normal.

I've put 3 friends onto the Riva, and they all love vaping, all were/are new to vaping. If I put them onto a normal small battery like the one I started with, I've a feeling the phone wouldn't have stopped ringing with problems. But, remarkably, so far, it hasn't went once, they're all managing no problem. Reliable batteries really do make vaping more user friendly.

I'm finding with LR atomisers, the lifespan looks to be about half that of a normal atomiser. I've used 3 LR so far, and each one has lasted about a week, the power drops off noticably, then they're ready for the bin. That's still worth it to me. A weeks worth of very nice vaping at about £4.

Just to add, from scratch, blow your new atties out. Then add 3 drops E-liquid. Attach empty cart, then vape. If you get a harsh taste, add another drop. The cart way...drop 5 drops into the empty cart. Add the blue foam. Push it down a bit into the cart with tweezers, then add liquid a drop at a time till soaked. Usually around 12-14 drops in total is about right. Re-attach, then vape. The greasy strong taste on lips means the cart is overfilled, so you need to unattach cart, unscrew atty, blow through atty once onto some tissue, then re-atttach and try again. If persists, repeat process. good luck

I feel your pain Kath I'd say it's one of 2 things, or a combo of both. The atomisers. First port of call for all my E-cig woes. Everyone gets them from time to time, its unavoidable. Gotta have spares to swap in/out, in times of woe. I've just flung 2 out this week, only 3 days old. They just would not get going despite the sizzling and glowing, which are both normally a good sign. The normal 510 atomisers with Rivas usually give a decent throat hit, but maybe try the LR type? Atties do get hot, but if they go red hot, give it a minute or so, then try again. Once an atty is working properly, you should be able to chain vape with no problem. E-liquid. Took me ages to find my preference. 11mg too weak - up to 14mg still too weak. 18mg just right. anything above, nicotine headaches. In your case I'd try a higher nicotine E-liquid to what you're on now. I'd be amazed if your problems were down to the Riva battery. 99% sure it won't be that. You could also try direct dripping. 3 drops straight inside the atomiser, clip an empty cart on and puff away. Bit more effort required this way but you should get a coupla 'fags' worth of vaping. Anyway, my moneys on it being the atomisers. Overall i'd say 75% of mine have been gooduns, the other 25% duffers. Luck of the draw with them really. Spares lol. Yer batteries (Rivas) are good.

I think choosing a mod is a hard choice, as there's so many good ones, and also a personal thing, how you like it looks wise. For me, the GGTS was a consideration before i seen the Mako. It's got an undoubted pedigree, and I'm sure I'd enjoy using it. The only thing that put me off it was it looks a bit blingy for my taste. The Mako is more me I think. And its a cracking vape

Dr Vapour's review - I seen that one lol. I think Tim said the combo(s) used in that review were a bit wrong - apparently the Doctor never read the user guide Whichever Mako you buy, you get exactly what you need - spacers / O rings. I've used it at both 3.7 and 2x3v, and really, it's easy to swap back and forth. takes all of 5 seconds. I rarely use the 2x3v little batteries for HV though, as an LR atty on the Mako at 3.7 using a 14500 is, well I think, tremendous. I've just put an LR atty on the Mako, used Raspberry coconut ice from Enjuice for the 1st time, vaping nirvana it is I will definitely be buying the Don sleeve for the Mako, as I want to try the 18650 battery, which the Mako does not have. But for now, this 14500 I'm using is still lasting most of the day, so more than happy with it.

Lilac, The makers of the Mako are bringing out a new device in about 4 weeks called the Megadolon (The don for short). It's an all in one device that takes lots of different battery/atomiser options, including the 18650 battery, which is rated the best of all for power and battery life. May be worth checking out. The Mako can be made into the 'Don', as it uses the same top and bottom, so all that's needed is the Don sleeve ( I think). No idea on price yet, but it's looking a definite for me. Ages since I bought owt new
