I'd recommend the Tornado over standard batts and SD for a long-lasting hassle free vape.
I have an adapter on order to use 901 atties on the Tornado, I'll post the outcome when I've tried it.

Such a shame that Trog wouldn't let Bucko know what the problem was with his SD's. That info may have helped everyone else. I don't think it was a case of purposefully not letting me know, it sounded more like he couldn't remember which SD he fixed. I just thought he woulda put a note in the return stating what the fault was. Or kept a log of it his end in case the same problem happened again. I've just got an SD2 with a 901 atty today, so far it's pretty fantastic. There's no doubt about it, when the SD is firing on all cylinders, it's a better vape than the Tornado, it's just for whatever unknown reason, it's hitty/missy in the consistency department. ... I shall persevere lol.

Lilac,
My SD took just a couple of days, no complaints there. I did have to send mine back twice though. It stopped working altogether both times. Wish i knew the cause, guess its a trade secret lol.
SD's have been ok since, though they do drop off from time to time. Every time this happens, i swap out to the tornado using same atties/carts, and guess what...Always ok.
I stick with the SD's as they are more economical to run, but in a Tornado vs. SD head to head, there's a clear winner and its not the SD.
I'm not sure if you already have a Tornado/Ego, but for my money, it's the only device I've had which has not caused me problems...not a single one, which in the world of E-cigs, makes it a pretty remarkable device.

I had a lot of problems with my SD's, very similar to the ones mentioned on this thread...my regular 510mini batts were giving me better performance using the same atties than they were on the SD.
After multiple emails with Trog, I ended up sending them back for repair. They were returned to me working A1, so I'd suggest doing the same with an under performing SD.
The only thing I'm puzzled with was Trog's resistance/lack of a concrete answer to my many times asked question to him...which part of my SD was faulty...which part did he fix...I still don't know.

I'm going to order a SD MK2, and it has a DSE901 atomiser fitting, which I've not used before - I've always went with 510 atomiser fittings.
So i'm back in confusion land, I want to order a 5 pack of atomisers for it, does anyone know which ones would fit, do i have options, or is there only one type?
the above post has a link for RN4081 atties, are these ok to use?
i've also got a shedload of 510 carts here, could i still use those, or do i need to buy a 901 friendly cart?

I've been getting consistent headaches the last 3 weeks or so, may or not be related to e-juice but i've decided to experiment a bit. I didn't get them when i was using the standard 510 minis, just started when i got the SD/tornado, so maybe my intake has increased, not sure yet.
I'm going to try some of that VG from the chemist to cut my PG based liquids, also ordered some VG based flavours from Enjuice, it's a bit more expensive though, as their Valuevape is only available in PG.

Cheers Jackie, that sounds perfect, I'm after a couple of LF juices so I'll get the adapter from there on my next order.

Just for future reference, has anyone used or know of an adapter i could use to convert my tornado or SD from a 510 into a 901? I'm going to have to wait till after my holiday before i get more stock in though, just done a tot up on what I've spent in 11 weeks and it comes to £280 lo0l. but at least now i have the tornado's and SD's, both are brilliant, 10 spare atties and 100ml juice. So that little stockpile should last me till week 20, so it works out at nigh on £15 a week, which is what i spent on making myself stink Next on my wishlist is the 5 pack of tornado batteries, and 2x 5 packs of atomisers, one of which will be 901s if i can get an adapter. And erm more juice, I have a list of 8 new types i'd like to try.

Got rid of the burnt taste, thanks to the Janty forums for this...
Blew out both ends to empty any excess juice Rinsed under hot water for 30 seconds Blew out any excess water fired it without the cart, blowing into the atty at same time for about 12 seconds done this 5 times in total reprimed atty with 4 drops of juice filled cart, attached vaping great, no burnt taste
best method i've found, it works yee-harr

Perhaps I've explained it wrong.
It's probably not metallic, more a burnt taste.
It'll be burnt up crud inside the wick of the atomiser i think, but you can't get your tweezers inside of the bridge to get it out.
I'm reluctant to clean it as its firing brilliantly, just tastes awful at the moment, i'll try a few blasts with the manual button, see if it can be burnt off - as opposed to inhaling it - yeurgg!

Welcome to the not so wonderful side of E-cigs, it really can be a head masher at times. I've had my tornado's for a couple of days, and not been having the probs you describe. For certain though, having the cone attached does improve its performance noticably. I'm the master of knackered atties, what i do know is, have a listen, if they make a sizzling/crackling noise, they're working. When the noise drops off, its time for either a clean, or the bin. usually the bin. Best thing to do is soon as is affordable, stock up on plenty of spares, it makes it a lot easier to find which part isn't working when things don't go as they should. Today, the my SD was dropping off, new batteries in, the atty was the prob, as changing to a new atty done the trick. Confusingly, the crap atty works fine on my tornado. No rhyme or reason sometimes.

I would bet on one of the atomisers being the problem are they all brand new ?. How does the spring in the head look, is it springy to touch or compressed and flat looking ?. Yeah, the atomisers came with the SD's, all brand new. They are ok in my working SD, and in the Tornado, so definitely not atty related. Trog's been great about it, detailed replies, he's putting it down to my bad luck, out of 300 SD's sold in the last month, mine's the only return lol. I compared springs with the working SD, and couldn't see any difference anyway, its been sent back for repair, would love to know the cause of it though. Those tornado's are tidy mind, really enjoying them, I'll definitely be stocking up with a few spares of those before the ban hits.
