I have smoked on & off for the past 12 years. However, I quit again probably about 3 months ago. I did use patches & the inhalator & didn't find it too bad until the last few weeks when the desire for a cigarette started again.
I only quit this time as my partner dosen't like the smell of tobacco smoke. I really miss having a cigarette & am so tempted to start again.
I used to smoke mainly roll ups (golden virginia), but I also smoked Marlbro & Camel lites on a nite out. I wouldn't say I was a particularly heavy smoker, but I probably smoked about 25 a day depending on mood and circumstances.
The e cigarette would be a good compromise between me wanting to smoke and my partner's hatred for the smell. I have bought a disposable e ciggie to see what I think about it before I buy a kit. I'm waiting on it arriving through the post.
If I like it, what do folks recommend I buy (going on what I've said). Also, what site gives the best value for money on both the e cigs and the accessories?
If there is other info I need, please don't hesitate to let me know. I'm keen to enjoy a cigarette again.

Hi Hissie - I am a newbie here too. There are about four of us who have joined during the past couple of weeks. I know that three of us at least have bought and are very happy with the Riva. There is a thread all about it somewhere here. But as to the rfeally good advice, I shall leave that to the experts. I am stil learning, but can really, really recommend giving it a go. I haven't had a cig now for 15 days - and don't actually want one! Good luck - and hope you enjoy vaping.

Hissie,
Welcome to the board. There seems to be a couple of you asking the same thing. Look for Letties post (newbie) and you will see what both me and Hanow have said on her thread as well.
Good luck!
Kath

Hi and welcome Hissie
It's hard to tell a first time vaper what to buy as we all need something different
Your disposable ecig is going to be most similar to a 901 or a 510, both of which you can buy reasonably priced starter kits for. However, the battery life for these is fairly short, although if you are not smoking or at least not smoking very much, then these may be fine for you.
If you are likely to want to use it to replace the way you were smoking before (ie 25 a day), then the Riva is a far more sensible buy - one battery should last you all day. Don't forget you will have to order your nicotine juice at the same time.
Personally, I had a 901 starter kit and whilst that blew my socks off to start with, I was constantly looking for something better and ended up making several more purchases (passthrough and Screwdriver) before finally buying my Riva. Now I only look at other devices because I am nosey! Had I bought the Riva first there is a good chance I wouldn't have needed to buy any other models.
I hope that helps a bit x

Thanks for the welcome & replies, much appreciated.
My disposable arrived today & although the hit at the back of the throat is decent, it dosen't really taste of anything. I was hoping for a strong tobacco taste, but was disappointed.
It says it's 1.8% nicotine (whatever that means). I'm now wondering whether or not to buy a proper e cigarette as I don't want to spend money and be disappointed.
I am thinking about a Riva, but some recommendations of juice would be appreciated.

The most popular appears to be LnB. My favourite is Benson Fences. A bit stronger than LnB in my opinion. But wait for the others to also say. I used to smoke 40+ a day so went for the 36mg strength. I also bought a Riva as my first venture into vaping and on the whole I've been really pleased with it. Hope this helps.

Hissie, when you think how quickly tobacco eats up your £££, I reckon it's worth taking a risk on the Riva. Many of our newbies over the past few weeks haven't looked back. It's a pity you picked a weak sample - I've bought one of those disposables for when my sister visits, I'm not looking forward to her trying it now scylla

Hissie, it's difficult these days for some of us "veterans" to know what is best to recommend to newbie's. Two years ago, their was so little choice. Never tried the Riva, but so many others love it. I do also think though that it makes a very big difference, no matter the model, which juice you use. My fave is James' L&B - not yet tried his Benson Fences as recommended above by Kath - yet But as you can buy small bottles from him for only £3.00 each, maybe give both a try? James is going on holiday though in a couple of days & tomorrow is the last day for ordering from him before he goes away.

Ok, if I go for the Riva kit, what else will I need to buy?
Also, how many times can a cartridge be filled with juice before a new cartridge is required?
Oh nearly forgot, is there any discount codes I can use?

Hissie, all you will need to begin with is some juice. Your cartridges can be filled many times over, so buying new ones isn't a priority to begin with.
If you buy from Liberty-Flights, you can use the discount code "allaboute" for a 10% discount. there is, i believe a 15% one off discount code but I can't remember (or find it) at the moment.

Forgot to ask, can only one cartridge be fiiled at any one time, or can multiple ones be filled and stored until one runs dry?
Also, because the e cig dosen't burn down, how to folk gauge how much they are vaping?
Apologies for the barrage of questions, I just want to be clued up before buying an e cig.

Never apologise for asking questions, that's what we are here for.
You can fill all of your cartridges & replace the cap they come with to keep them moist. If you are a heavy vaper (ex heavy smoker) your cartridges will need re topping up often though.
As for knowing how to gauge how much to vape. For starters, just drag on the e-cig for about the same time as you would with a real cig. After a while you will adjust to what suits you.
