I have 5 packs of your silica tubing on order, this is why I am a little concerned that they may not be right for the Job, The hole goes right through the ss mesh with no problem and indeed i use the hole through the mesh to fill the tank with a syringe. The cutting of the mesh at an angle prevents the mesh bottoming out on the tank therefore allowing more liquid up the mesh. Im sure it will all straighten out.

I need Blakey now, I too have ripped the guts from a Carto and done exactly the same, same issue with the tube, Blakey if youre reading this can you confirm anything please? A couple of things with this silica, if you put it to flame then it will scorch and become very brittle and crumble. It's used as a heat shield in many devices or as something that prevents coil to tank body contact. Mine came from an old dual coil that I had in the freezer that had been put in there to clean a few months ago You could try removing it from your mesh and use a pin to prick a few holes that would allow a little more juice through. It may just be that the particular tubing that you took from that carto just isn't porous. If you get good results from the bare mesh then you really don't need silica shielding, I won't really be bothering with it as it's only function for me is to make coils less prone to hotspots. I just had to try for myself to experience it

I still suspect that the silica tubing has a coating on it.
As I mentioned earlier, burn it of with a LIGHTER. not a blowtorch.
You should then find it becomes more flexible and wicks better.

Thank you for the free tube offer Callum, much appreciated. Can't comment on the wick tubes as I'm waiting on mine . . . but I'll do as I'm told by the experts with those. Edit to say: wick tubes have arrived, Callum you norty boy . . . that huge envelope for those wee diddy things. Consider yourself scolded for being so wasteful.

Just looking at Health e vapes newsletter. The maximus now comes with 2 spare wicks and wick tubes AND a spare tank tube.... ps Oops skip that, I just realised Callums offer for the free wick tubes, includes getting a free tank tube if you ordered before. Good one, I can stop worrying about the stress lines for a bit

Look what I've found . . . cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=350604152517Have messaged the Seller to ask if they'd be kind enough to pop a sample in the post to me . . . looking at the site Sej kindly linked to, their tubes are fibreglass with rubber as are a number that I've looked at. The Ebay one is untreated . . .

Fibreglass is not silica..I would be careful inhaling that stuff and it has much lower temperature rating..
Come on senorita.. it's very easy to setup a genesis..Initially I thought it was a great idea to have the silica sock but it degrades in performance very quickly..

Knew it was too good to be true Macca. Really, I just can't be bothered with all this faddling, flaming and fiddling about with stuff to get it to work . . .
