Just wondering............. if they did get banned.............. it would not be an instant ban so we would have time to stock up........... but on the link Karma mentioned from UK Vapers someone questioned the fact that although it MAY become law.......member states do have a veto........... whether this toothless Government would veto it remains to be seen............ cant see it tho...............Cameron is about as much use as a chocolate fireguard when it comes to Europe.
But what I can surmise is the fact a member state does have the right to veto and perhaps if enough states to veto it.............. then the bill would fail.............. until the next time

In theory then the "deal" falls through because some aren't on board. Although if previous memory serves right this doesn't actually make any difference when the EU decides it wants something badly enough and they'll go ahead without the agreement of all member states, when it suits them. But anyway, the point of that document is not to ban selling of e-cigs and the associated juices, spares and parts etc but to just ban marketing so it would be like tobacco where you aren't allowed to advertise the product. Analogues seem to still be doing very well without advertising and I don't see that many ads for e-cigs in mainstream press so meh IMHO Will have little to no effect on us and people we "convert" to e-cigs.

Haven't seen the original document myself, probably wouldn't even understand it if I did I can't see the UK government banning e-cigs. Can I see them regulating and taxing them?... hell yes, but not banning them. The truth is if the government put the same tax on THR as Tobacco then they'll have some serious explaining to do to the medical community. If the whole country switched from Tobacco to e-cigs tomorrow the country would be in trouble with the lost revenue. Not that it's ever going to happen, but each vaper costs the UK government money in lost revenue... they don't like that and are unlikely to stand for it when they notice enough people doing it (i.E They lose an appreciable amount of revenue.)

Thank you for being the voice of reason Kibbster.
I did wonder how on earth there would/could suddenly be a blanket ban on vaping as such. As my son pointed out too, the look a like e-cigs maybe as they could be said to still encourage smoking, but to ban the paraphernalia would be a nightmare [he used the smoking of cannabis as an example, the 'drug' may be illegal but not the pipes, bongs etc...not that I knew what any of that was lol].
As some one incredibly famous once said 'there are two certainties in life...death and taxes' The government will get us in the end I suppose but it won't be as bad as losing the whole thing. And hopefully, still a lot less expensive than smoking!

Yes part of the problem is the Daily Fail brigade saying "Oh noes thinks of the children/ kittens/ pandas, look-a-likes will make children smoke" or some such bollocks. As long as they are the minority they can be easily ignored as crackpots but if the press and general public jump on that bandwagon we can very quickly have a problem. Hopefully, there is enough common sense left in the world for people to not do that... ah hell who am I kidding! People fear something new, smoking is the new evil (Every wardrobe still has a terrorist and there's a paedo in every child's wardrobe still!) Anything that in anyway is linked to smoking WILL get tarred with the same brush, generally by people who believe stuff they read in the papers or what their mate down the pub tells them. They are unfortunately the great unwashed masses and they also unfortunately hold power in the country because of their numbers. (number of votes.) The government will bow to these people if they shout loud enough. That's what worries me the most. What can we do about them? Very little, as we can't control what they do try to ignore them IMHO, if it becomes illegal in the UK to sell vaping stuff then unfortunately we'll have to order direct from China. I still think it's possible but very unlikely. Much more likely that legislation will be involved, an accidental contamination in China with our Juices killing someone (Powered milk anyone?) will result in a ban or at the very least legislation faster than I could vape a tank of my favorite juice! I think that's the most pressing worry IMHO. I still blame the Daily Fail for everything bad in life

Folks, this seems to be based on an article from September. I think the EU thing got kicked into touch when the health commissioner got caught with his hand in the till, and we don't have to worry about anything until NICE (NHS investigation) reports in May.
So we should write to our MPs in March/April, not now.
But sign the petition if you haven't already done so, and nic keeps forever in the freezer.

Hopefully the NICE report will be a bit more level headed and less of the e-cigs ate my baby type sensationalism. If NICE come out and say, we can't find any harm, much better than smoking etc.. it could do good things for us. If they recommend it's regulated then we are in trouble.
