They (tobacco companies + governments) knew of problems a long time, many years but covered it up and actually added more drugs to the tobacco all to keep their profits booming. I am pretty sure e-cigs are not the same right now. Which also adds nothing to the discussion. Lets keep it relative. Eh ? It is relative when your friend is relating e-cigs to cigarettes in the 70's and i am replying to your comment. Seriously your mate needs to educate himself a little more.

Most pubs only survive through serving food? Most pubs only survive through serving under 18's Thought I'd just correct you on that Womble I don't know if that's true or not, but I think not. Maybe in your neighbourhood.

Yeah....I was going for the comedy moment I'm in West Yorkshire and Food pub's do really well.........All the old "Drinkers" pubs have shut down.... Some survive with the "18's" for a while but eventually get shut down. . . . Don't know where you are but spend a day in the industrial wasteland known as West Yorkshire and you will soon be buying a return ticket to (...........) fill in the dots . . .

Well this is exactly what I'm saying, he doesn't like it, so what do we have to do to make him understand? I've annoyed myself and got quite pissed off tbh today with him and he still has same the POV. What I'm trying to say, is that, no matter what we say or do, there will always be someone against us. It just happens in this life, that it's my great NDN.

He isn't that well educated on e-cigs. Does he know you vape? Yes, I've done it for ages in front of him. He hasn't been bothered. And I've explained e-cigs until I'm blue in the face! But to him, walking into a pub serving food is beyond his comfort zone. He just doesn't like it, I've tried to tell him all the usual stuff, but it just doesn't work. To me, walking into a pub serving food is beyond my comfort zone too... pubs should serve alcohol, and snacks. Food should be left to the restaurants. I wouldn't go to a restaurant to have a few pints and play pool.

I suggest that you drop in a comment when next speaking with your neighbour, that it has been reported in a Vaping Forum that you are a member of, that passive Vaping can lead to Leprosy.
IE. Just enough of a kick in the bum to get him off of it and doing his own research into the effects of passive vaping.

Some people won't listen no matter what and as hard as you try you won't change their opinion, even if their opinion is wrong. The difference between now and the 70s is the huge leaps in science that have been made. It took them until the 70s because until then science and medicine were still in their infancy. Obviously we're still only in the preschool years as far as science and medicine are concerned but we know a lot more than we did back then.

You could ask him if he would object to someone using a medical inhaler in said restaurant or object to the steaming of the kettle or coffee pot.
I don't actualy think it's an argument you can win nor a perception you can change. Ingesting nicotine by whatever route is elective especially in the minds of former and non smokers. Some have a mindset that any exposure to it for them in any form purely for your pleasure is intolerable.
I take the easy way out, I don't flaunt it at all and I only vape in locations where I am certain it will cause no concern to others.

In a way I agree with him, i'd also prefer not to have vaping all around in a restaurant. As for pubs I don't think they should serve food so that's a different matter. I don't think people should be eating food around me while I'm trying to enjoy a good drink.. Here.......here well spoken MeV

Obviously he is not that educated then I'm going to allow you a certain amount of leeway, as I took a while finishing my post. But he is educated to a level far beyond me and probably you. That isn't the answer. I fail to see the relevance of his education. Social background, upbringing, or even the colour of his socks do not make him a 'better' person. I am disgusted at people like THAT. It was written in an article (I'll try to find it) that the exhaled vapour contains no more trace nicotine than the caffeine contained in a cup of coffee. PG is the same liquid used in theatrical smoke machines, I am quite sure Hollywood would have had many lawsuits against them over the years for any problems caused by its inhalation, and also as part of the propellent in inhalers for Asthma. VG is used in plenty of consumer products already. The main part of what needs testing, is the long-term effects of direct inhalation into the lungs of PG/VG, as it is obviously a more concentrated dosage. Personally, if I am vaping in a public area I hold my draw so there is as little vapour on the exhale as possible. So far I have vaped in :- Bluewater Shopping Centre Lakeside Shopping Centre Restaurants Tesco Morrisons The London Dungeons The London Aquarium The London Eye (Yes ON it) Legoland Chessington World of Adventures Trains The Tube I carry a few 'fact-sheets' of business sized cards in my wallet to hand to anyone who wants to approach me about it, but as of yet I haven't been 'challenged' once. The biggest risk he faces, is if I ram my Vamo up his chocolate wizzwazz for infringing upon MY civil rights. (Joining in on the 'comedy' element of it too)

I am not well educated but i do know some people need to moan, if it was'nt vaping it would be something else, I tottally agree with not vaping in eating establishments it comes down to manners, but narrow minded people will not see past their noses what ever you say so do not waste your breath with him. I smoked for 38 years & have only vaped for 3 months but i know which is better for me I do'nt need a degree to come to that conclusion. Did he ever smoke?

Yes denis9t9, he did & gave up in the 70's. He appears to be one of those like my dragon-in-law, who also gave up 'cold-turkey'. I have EVERY respect for those who can give up like that - it's bl00dy difficult, as a lot of us know. Mrs fred did, and I, to this day, don't know how, especially considering I carried on smoking all the while. Unfortunately, they think all we can all do it that way - well sorry, we can't. In my short time of vaping, it seems to me, that vaping is by far the most successful method by country mile of keeping people off of tobacco.

I had a similar discusion with a friend in a public house. His final point was "would you vape in the car, windows up, with my twin babies in the back". I couldn't answer that.
Since that day, I haven't found anything to suggest second hand vapour is safe. I also haven't found anything suggesting it isn't safe.
So, unless someone can point me to some medical research on this matter, I'm afraid my mate won that argument. I'm now looking at buying a far more discreet PV than my Provari for public places to reduce the attention.
Sad but true.

It sounds to me that this bloke is just one of them that will always moan.He obviously doesnt understand the Smoking Ban.When youre vaping youre not breaking the Law against smoking.
1.You are not combusting tobacco. 2.You are not inhaling SMOKE. 3.Currently it is not Illegal to Vape in Public Spaces. 4.All current research points out that Vaping is a FAR safer way to obtain a nicotine "fix".
If e cigs had been around in the 70's,i bet he would have had a go.Just because you say he is an "Educated" person,it doesnt follow that he is endowed will intelligence or common sense.I also would bet that he suffers from Haemorrhoids as well. Its a well established fact that serious Pile sufferers have no or very little sense of humour! He needs to chill out and find something else to vent his spleen on.Is he henpecked at home i wonder?
