Pay no attention to the crazy battery holder sticking out of my GGTB. I bought a couple of cheap torches at poundland and was just messing about, figuring what I could do with them. I still haven't thought of anything but was pleased to find that the black torch body has the same threads as the GGTB. It gives me hope that I may be able to come up with something that might work. It's the red and silver body that I really want to mod. Unfortunately the GG parts are too precious to risk ruining them in a cobbled together mod. I have some bits to play with anyway and I would say I've made my first real step in learning to mod. Next step will be to buy some tools and start building something simple to begin with. I think this could be the start of something good for me. Attachments:

I'm trying to make an SD type button on the bottom. So far so good. I'm planning on using a 16340 for it.

If I do manage to make a mod out of this I'll give it to you Scylla as a gift. You can be the test subject. A bit more progress, managed to gut it all after some drilling, hammering and swearing. I found a much easier way to gut it after I'd done it. At least I'll know better for next time.

I have figured out my switch after taking my SD to pieces. I just need to find some parts now. I plan on this being a mechanical mod with a 901 connector, so need to figure out how to make the circuit work. I'm hoping to find some useful bits and bobs in the father in laws garage while he's away on holiday. I'll try to make some battery holder/spacer type things while I'm there.
EDIT. Looked for an SD spare switch and found them at TW for £20! I think I'll make my own.

I was thinking somewhere in the £300-£400 range or maybe a little bit more. Seriously though I'll see if I can make one first, then see how much it costs and work it out from there. If I sold any I wouldn't want to charge too much.

Looked for an SD spare switch and found them at TW for £20! I think I'll make my own. I presume that would have been a MkII switch. I don't know the technicalities but am wondering if a MkI assembly would be better because (I hear that) the MkII keeps having to be screwed tight otherwise the button falls off. scylla ???

I'm basing my switch off of the Mk1 switch except I'm intending to have a giant button to press. I'll be sure to avoid it loosening if I can figure it out.

This looks very intresting lee With me it wouldnt be one for me as when i look at the SD i couldnt imagine trying to hold it and press the button as its at the bottom.Id find it awkward but if you are making a big button it should be quiet nice and it looks quiet a nice shape aswell.
It would look just right with an atty or clearo on.

Also sorry for another reply it looks quiet deep the top part so would you like make a false bottom then sleeve it?and then try and like a plate sort of thing with the connection to the atty in?

A nice stainless steel atty would look great. I'm trying to get my head around how I'm going to fit it all together at the moment. I'm going to hot foot it down to the shops tomorrow to grab all the stock of these in case I destroy anything as I build it. Forgot to say, using an SD is really simple and comfortable. A very nice mod to own.

I am planning to make a very simple switch using copper strips separated by a small gap. Stick finger on top and the copper touches, release and circuit breaks.
