I spent over 3 years worth of my normal cigarette budget in the first 6 months of vaping...but haven`t spent anything for the past year (that I didn`t want to of course) It`s all swings & roundabouts, as long as you don`t spend wildly more than what you did on the fags, it`s a winner surely ? Did you buy a shop?

No, a good grand of the initial spend was with "those who shall not be mentioned" - which is quite easy to imagine when you look at the prices.

Welcome to the forum, molly. If you want a better vaping experience & a cheaper one, you do need to move up from what you're using & bigger does not mean manly, as there are different colours & even pretty patterned batteries. Perps has put up a link that's worth a look. If you go for an riva/ego battery, it'll open up the world of vaping & you will get all the things you require from it, plus it will be cheaper & much better than the cig-a-likes.

Thanks for your replies. Sorry to sound so dumb, but what do you mean by ego/Riva battery? Surely I need more equipment?

Hi molly and Great advice so far, like everyone said the initial outlay is the big thing. Between 2 of us we've spent about £150 on kit in the last 2 weeks (batts, clearos, pre-filled juice, DIY juice mixing kit, atty coil and wick) etc but we had been spending £90 every 3 weeks on tobacco. We spent about £35 on the DIY juice stuff incl some flavours, bottles, syringes etc etc but that outlay will let me make approx 300ml of juice which will last the 2 of us about 50 days (ave 3ml a day each) so that’s 80p a day on juice. I also spent £10 on re-wicking supplies but I’ll have 10m of coil and wick so that’s going to last many months (I think!) The only problem is, the more money I save on DIY, the more I want to spend on other gadgets so like everyone else has said you can make it as expensive as you like! As for the feminine look, I got my wife the stainless steel spinner battery which she ‘accessorises’ with pink, purple and orange EVOD’s.

Thanks for your replies. Sorry to sound so dumb, but what do you mean by ego/Riva battery? Surely I need more equipment? Jess meant to get a starter kit with an ego/Riva type battery. BTW, I used to smoke at least 50 cigarettes a day & I only spend £10.00 maximum a week with vaping.

Hi molly, and welcome. It does seem to cost a lot at the beginning, I agree, and have found this too, but, long term, once you have what you need (and spares) long term it is much more cost effective than smoking and without all the chemicals and smell. Just think long term, finances wise, I am.

I just compare to what I would have smoked - at 20 a day and around £8 a pack, that's £56 a week, and easily £250 a month. So yes, whilst I have spent a fair ole bit on vaping in 6 months (probably somewhere around £1k), I'm still £500 in credit, have clearer lungs, smell nicer and really, really love vaping. They really don't make peach melba or cheesecake flavoured fags, and certainly not purple ones

Thanks guys!
Yes Chrissie but as I was still no further to understanding the whole vaping thing I opted for the easy option and upgraded on 10motives, elites etc. Greensmoke seemed to be the best upgrade but as you say expensive!
I've been chatting online to one of your vendors and they have recommended the Kanga Evod starter kit as opposed to the Riva. This because of bottom wicks or something like that. Anyway it made sense.
I'm definitely going to get something but what's holding me back is all this talk about upgrading! I don't want to keep paying out for new and better equipment so is the Evod something I could buy now and then build on later?
What is the next upgrade? And why not just get that? Or is the big boys stuff too fiddly for beginners like me?

What batteries are in the evod kit? If they are 650mAh and you vape a lot, you might in fact be disappointed.
just my 2p worth.
One doesn't have to upgrade forever, but starting with medium/small batteries isn't always the best option.

They are 650ah. So that doesn't sound so good then. But surely big battery means large cumbersome unit?
There must be something that fits the bill!
