It's about time they started banning people too, so hard to tell the difference between the public And terrorists! Just ask the met police, oh hang on, lets ban the police too, they are a danger To the travelling public!

Just thinking this through, are they going to put up signs of some sort? What would they look like, will the be pictorial or in many languages? How much will that cost? I doubt they will bother. What I think will happen in the real world. BR employee approaches a vapour, asks them to stop smoking, they say It's an ecig, they are told you can't do that either. Same employee sees someone with an ego, and doesn't bother as they can see they are not smoking. I think it's about saving face when they confront someone and have got it wrong. Unless there are clear signs that you can't do something innocuous then there is no Sensible reason why you should presume it is not allowed. Carry on regardless I say.

As it not acutally smoking and its not banned restricted yet ,i would imagine even if they said heres a fine, take it to court and they would more likely lose.. Court You twas fined for smoking on Railway property You No i was vaping ecig ,basic water steam...no smoke- steam Court Case dismissed

The notion that they could make a fine stick is rediculous. It would be almost impossible for someone who only has the vaguest notion of Disposable cigs likes to frame a rule that would encompass the range of Pvs available.

I was wondering exactly how they can enforce a ban on something that's not illegal ?

Unfortunately they can impose restrictions as they see fit. The only way to affect them is to not use their service.

Might be wrong, but just looking at it from their side......if a couple of peeps are vaping on the platform/train and someone else decides to light up a f*g, although they can smell the smoke they wouldn't be sure who to approach. A total ban makes their life simpler !

I'd be interested to read the BMA's justification for this nonsense. I take it that said justification is not based on anything so vulgar as evidence? In all fairness, though, I suppose it *is* difficult to tell the difference between smoking and vaping, if you're a numpty.

My suspicion is that the BMA haven't actively said vaping is dangerous, merely that there is no evidence whether it's long term use is or isn't dangerous and railtrack are using this as an excuse. However even though vaping isn't illegal neither is smoking and the ban is implimented by issuing a by law which IS legally enforceable and all fines lawful, unfortunately there would be no "case dismissed" decisions in a court.
