OK-Electronic Cigarettes

Hi everyone, i'm new to the forum and would like to discuss and compare my experience of using e-cigs as I don't have anyone in my circle of friends or family who use them. 

I have been using the 'OK' brand of e-cigs from Asda for around 2 months which I am relatively happy with, in that time I have not been tempted to use regular cigarettes.
Compared to other brands they seem on the face of it really good value as the starter kit (which contains a battery, USB charger and 2 cartridges) only costs £6 with refill packs costing £6 for 5 cartridges, they are available in supposedly medium/high nicotine and they have a menthol variety too.

However, I am personally finding that each cartridge lasts nowhere near the claimed 25 cigarettes.  I seem to be going through 2 cartridges a day, I have never in my life smoked more than 20-25 regular cigarettes in the same period.

Has anyone had any experience of this brand?  As far as i'm aware they are sold at a great price point compared to rival brands but i'm beginning to wonder whether more expensive brands may actually turn out to be better value in the long run.

Welcome to you Wanttoquit.

There are disadvantages to the brand you are using, some of which you've already discovered . . . the totally unrealistic claims.

The other being, what do you do when your one battery is on charge?

But to give you a taste of how great esmoking can be, then £6 isn't too much of an investment to make.

There are however vastly superior options available which will give you a much improved vaping experience.

My suggestion would be to take the plunge and order this kit as an upgrade, with some liquid:

Many thanks.   I actually bought a second starter pack to alleviate the battery problem!

I think I shall purchase a better product, it did seem to good to be true for the price but in it's defence it is very convenient and readily available but in my personal experience their claims about the battery life and cartridges seem a bit fanciful!

Most new cars make very little profit for the manufacturers. Where they make their profit is for the ludicrously high charge they make for spare parts.
This is standard practise across most manufacturing processes and e-cigs are no different.

Most of us started our Vaping Journey on cig-a-likes and quickly realised that for vaping to be truly cost effective, we had to be able to buy e-juice in bottles and fill our own cartridges/clearomisers/tanks, whatever.

Get yourself a couple of eGo Battery type e-cigs. These will fit any number of different heads that you fill yourself and while it may be more expensive initially, you will save pounds in the future as well as putting yourself firmly on the road to all your future vaping needs.

wanttoquit to the best egig forum on t'interweb. I used that type of egig for about a week before moving on to a ego battery and clearomiser set up for the reasons that you speak of but mainly because I didn't like cartos. If you are happy enough with this carto type ecig you can use them a lot more economically by refilling them with ejuice. Simply push a small screwnail or pin into the hole in the carto bung (mouth piece) and pull it out. You can then add ejuice to the wadding material a few drops at a time until the wadding is fully saturated (about 30 - 40 drops in total) and then replace the little bung. When refilling, try to avoid getting juice down the central air hole but don't worry if you do as this excess can be simply removed by blowing through the carto from the battery connection end.

hello and welcome, wanttoquit (yikes, that username is going to get old for you really quick when you've quit. just sayin' )

As someone who only moved onto more serious kit very recently (after muddling along in a solitary fashion with my cig-alike for six months) I'd urge you to upgrade asap. I only wish I'd known about the alternatives when I started. Or indeed, years ago.

I also strongly recommend a basic starter kit with at least two batteries. I have probably bought a few more spares than I really need, but I am now really just buying juices and it's a lot cheaper than smoking! I started on e-lites so I know exactly how you feel about them not really being up to the job. You won't be disappointed with the suggested starter pack though. Good luck!

I have never been too keen on trying the type that involves using liquid but I think it's clear that they are the way to go to avoid the problems I have encountered with the OK brand, certainly for home use anyway.

2 days if I'm lucky . . . my vaping friend 10ml would last a couple of weeks, just depends how much you vape and what with as some systems can be juice guzzler's.

But for me worth it if it keeps me off the cigs.

I'm doing about 2ml a day, I think. It's a bit soon to tell exactly. It seems to me that if you're going through more than about 3ml a day, I'd say you were really banging it, or you're using some very thirsty hardware, or more likely both.
