thanks both Greg and @johanino - and now I have a big ( maybe stupid ) question - what do you understand is a micro coil compared to the 'normal' coil of a protandk as they look pretty much the same to me Stick to my guide, step by step and once you get the hang of it (which you will) it's a doddle from then on....trust me

Clivia if your trying to remove silica wick from a standard Evod or protank head I would imagine that's quite fiddly be use as you pull the old silica out it may well dislodge your coil and similarly hen replacing with new silica you'll disturb the coil again s&i if your doing this you'll need to dry burn the coil afterwards and then tweak the coils to make sure there not touching each other and creating hot spots. If your using microcoils then it's a coddle as the coils need to touch each other and the coil is far more rigid. With a microcoil try cotton wool as per shinys guide. When you want to replace the cotton just cut one side close to the coil and then pull it out from the other side from which you cut. Can you dry burn coils on a protank? I know you can't really on the micro coil? Or am I being in need of more meds? You can dry burn any coil on a protank be it a standard coil or a microcoil as long as the wick is not cotton, if you us cotton then then remove it completely, dry burn the bare coil, let the coil cool then replace with fresh cotton.

I ain't a big fan of nickle wire. Best part about microcoil is that they are much easier to re-wick when you need too, just pull out the old cotton and replace with new, you would not be able to do that with the ones you linked above...they are designed to be re-built from scratch when it needs re-coiling.

Clivia if you open up one of those heads you linked to inside you will find a standard coil with silica wick, notice how the coils wrap round the silica but not of the coil raps touch each other, that is a standard coil. A microcoil is wrapped around a solid metal object like a drill bit and as you wrap you get the coils as close together as possible so they are touching each other. Then you compress the microcoil in a pair of tweezers the the coils are held together then torch the coil and allow to cool, hen you real ease the tweezers the coils all remain stuck together, one micrcoil

now that you are on thread Super-Shiny - with the dual core protank 3 coils, can they be rebuilt as single coil? in similar way... Because I watched YouTube vid for doing a pair, with wick above and it looked really flaming difficult!

I know a lot of questions ( believe me there are many other areas too where I am equally daft - but I did pass primary school and a bit more ) You make micro coils Follow super shiny's guide - (only I don't bother with the squishy bit) - sorted Take apart the heads from my e-pack before you make the micro coil. You can use them if you like as they are - I personally don't like them as they are. Sorry for late reply - poorly rattie

I ain't messed around with duel coils and tbh i don't think i will as all that faffing around would put me off. I ain't re-coiled anything apart from my Spheroids as of late as that is all i have now, hence the lack of guides from me with making coils
