I was going to do a few T3S micros today. Until I realised... Mrs DJS has given the creme brulee torch to somebody, as we "don't use it"...

I just spent an hour playing with micro coils
In the end whilst trying (this was my intention) to dry burn my micro coil with my wick I pulled the coil out when I pulled the wick out
Next micro coil registered about 0.4 ohms on the meter
All I had was flitting between burnt taste and flooding LOL
So much hassle....all I need now is a cup cake from china via EMS (suspect EMS postage will be more than the cupcake LOL)

Er yes but I don't flame and squish the coil before I put it in so not as tough Used cotton wick expands quite a lot once juiced, to remove your used wick cut the CW tail off really close to one side of the coil with scissors or nail clippers then pull the wick out from the opposite side to that which you snipped off. This way your not try to pull the expanded tail of the cotton wick back through the coil

Well, been away from the pooter for a couple of days, and you have got some great advice here already. Here's my 2p-worth! I use .25 Kanthal on a 2mm jeweller's screwdriver and wrap 9 turns for about 1.9ohm. I have a cook's blowtorch from The Range to burn the coil, using a pair of needle-nosed pliers with insulated handles to hold the coil - it's surprising how hot a pair of tweezers gets Once the microcoil is nicely squidged together, I use a nice fat canvas sail-makers needle to hold the coil in place while I fit the tails and grommet onto the Protank head, sliding it out once all is safely in place. I may be taking my life in my hands, but simply use cotton wool balls from Superdrug. I bough a big bag for £1.99 and have only used 3 balls so far, should last for years!! A small piece of cotton wool pulled from the ball will almost always be at least twice as much as you need, but wastage costs fractions of a penny each time so what the hell! I wet the end of the CW with my mouth before threading it through the coil, makes it a bit stiffer (oo, err!). Before trimming gently pull the 'tails' from side to side - if it runs through the coil easily, it's just about enough, if it snags, it will probably choke the coil once it swells with the juice. Trim with a pair of nail scissors, apply a few drops of the juice to wet it thoroughly and away you go. A few things of note:- 1) don't dry burn your coil with the CW in place - it burns really easily and stinks the place out. You'll never really get rid of that taste from the coil either! 2) replace the wick once performance dips - I get about 4 days from one wick, but it only takes about 2 minutes to replace, and the coils I made after Christmas are still going strong, so that's 2.5 months per coil! 3) a well made coil glows from the centre out when you dry burn it. 4) Changing the wick means you can swop juices in one tank really quickly! 5) 10m of wire lasts a very long time!! 6) make sure there is nothing flammable or expensive the other side of your blowtorch flame (I learnt this lesson the hard way!) Best of luck and don't worry if the first few are cr@p, once you make your first decent coil, you will be so delighted with the improvement in flavour!

... I'm still trying to get my head around ordering pliers and wires and metal mesh and flammable items with what is basically a flame thrower ?! ( mini blowtorch!)
So anyone who knows me would crack up imagining me let loose with these items, I'm a complete klutz! but now have a special vape tool box. ...? I'm not allowed near power tools at home hehe
