joelemite if you do go down the mech route get yourself a little ohm meter box. There only about a tenner and allow you to check your atty isn't shorted before trying to fire it on a mech

For me - I went and got a Vamo but if I had to start again I would have gone straight for the GP PAP & a nice stingray clone for work (The Infinite ones) but that's just what I would do, every one has different tastes but what ever you choose please make sure you read up on battery safety and coil building - There are plenty of vids and tutorials for coil building especially on here.
Good Luck and Happy Vapes

Come on guys let's give a bit of thoughts to post content. We are in absolute beginners section here so I'm thinking it's a little inappropriate to be talking drippers and sub ohms. Sure they have their place but not in beginners And let's not start a bun fight I'm not singling any one out just asking you think about the section your posting in please. OP is thinking about sub-ohming, even if he claims not to be......!! I don't even want to think about sub ohm malarky yet so that'll be for another time So it's worth discussing. I would never tell anyone what to vape (or say), but I mentioned my current set up, never said op should sub-ohm, but i'd bet my juice collection that he'll be there soon enough. Not all beginners are created equal (this is also the New Members section) If a beginner want's to talk about mechs, lets talk.

leo no he's not read his words and not your misinterpretation of them. This is not the section to talk sub ohms but if you disagree then carry on, I'll leave you to the your madness. All I'm saying is there are more appropriate sections to talk advanced vaping rather than in here. I think the OP mentioned another time ie not now.

Some of these posts are enough to put a newcomer in to a coma. And I've got three £10 and under clones from China which are fabulous. They are all reviewed extensively. A mech you like the look of. Buy two 18650 IMR batteries and a charger. Whatever atomizer you use, try to buy coils that are around 1.8 ohms or less, and you're ready to go.

I'd advise ignoring the bold bits Dont forget the ohm meter

Me and greg are gonna have another disagreement ....lol... ive got 4 clone mech mods from Fasttech and they are spot on, all you gotta do is read the reviews on Fasttech to get a good idea, some cheap clones are that good that if they do have a fault you can pretty much bet that the legit one has the exact same fault too... just like my nemmy.... certain attys wont tighten up on it, exact same attys wont tighten up on my mates legit one but they work on everything else........ so there...

joelemite - if you think you'd like to try a Mech mod, go for it. Personally speaking, I rarely use mine, as I discovered that the gradual drop in power annoyed me to the point of going straight back to a VV/VW tube instead. I use a Nemesis with a kick, and that's permanently set to 9w - it's good. I sometimes have a puff on a plain mech with a fairly "medium" atomiser (1 ohm perhaps) and it's great, but not my go-to device.

I'm not disagreeing in general mate I'm just saying that for a newbie maybe fasttech isn't the place to start.

joelemite get a mech and a rebuildable tank, some kanthal wire like 0.32mm, 0.34mm from the vape mesh company or even one of those packs with various gauges and get building. You can use this app to help with coils www.steam-engine.org/coil.aspI'd also recommend something like the sony vtc4's as they are well proven to be safe batteries under extreme use. A lot of us sub ohm down really low and these are what we use although I expect it'll be a few weeks before you go there. But yeh, I'd say start off with a simple set up of a mech, rebuildable tank of some sort, decent quality batteries, charger, ohm checker and get going. It's great fun. You will have headaches no doubt and waste some wire and juice but it's all part of the learning. Youtube is excellent for vids on various builds etc too as well as the forum and other folk. Vape on!

I agree with @agenthoover, I also have 4 FT clones and whether ive just been lucky or made good choices, the ones I have are very good. In fact I think the brass stingray I have is the same as the one m-vapes is selling. The copper nemi is good, the locking ring goes from full open to locked and back with a single flick of the finger (I did put in some switch magnets to improve the switch). Even the cheapest one which was the 'slim' mod that I paid £10.50 for, I use all the time with a Kayfun, its like it was made for it.

a mech mod for a nooB i like your style
1st off as already stated get decent batteries, dont scrimp on this part vtc4 or 5`s are recommended
for me personally either a stingray or Pegasus (both clones) in 18650
I like the Svomesto KFL clones with the 510 drip tip with no adjustable airflow as the draw is perfect to me for straight to lung inhale
Twisted Kanthal coils @ 0.8ohms with organic cotton are a great ADV they seem pretty much perfect for this setup
Good luck in your journey, its great to see someone taking it seriously so early

I appear to have touched on a rather contentious issue I think I shall hold off on going for a mod for a bit (not too long though) just so I can learn more about them and get a little more equipment, I'm thinking a VTR for now, although I got a little confused about the whole VTR thing when I couldn't work out where the vector came into it, then was told it was just a name picked at random from a competition, I thought it might have something to do with maths vectors and couldn't work out why (yes, I can be too spoddy for my own good). I can be a little too good at jumping into something far too quick for my own good and I've had far too many electric shocks and things blow up on me (thankfully only at work), so I should have learned my lesson by now Would it be worth it, when I get one, to run it through a scope and diagnostic software so I can get a better idea of tolerances and whatnot, or is that just going a step too far?
