I have said it before the F & F should not be allowed on forum sales. If I remember correctly there was quite a big debate about it a while back. I never pay using F & F because there is no protection for the buyer or the seller. Another issue on the buying and selling front is when people send valuable items on a Signed for service if it goes missing RM are only going to give you £35. If you are posting something that is quite valuable then send it RMSD covered up to £500 and more if you pay for extra insurance.
Rant over.

I still think it should be a choice and not a rule - I have bought here with paypal f&F - but as said before - I check of whom I buy - and till now I was always really happy with the outcome

There may be 1000's of F & F payments made and no issues but it only takes one to go wrong and I think it is one too many.

If someone is determined to rip you off, you have no control, which ever way you buy/sell when using PayPal. It is going to be a leap of faith for one of the parties. You just have to minimise the chance by researching the other party.

It should be the buyers choice in my opinion, very simple to calculate the two amounts and offer them as a choice. Everyone knows where they stand then. Dont buy from newbies etc. We are all adults here and take responsibilities for our own actions which goes for buyers and sellers. If someone is confident to buy and wants to save a bit then there is nothing wrong with that. If the buyer feels he/she needs a bit of insurance then dont buy F and F.

Not sure I agree robby, I think that the seller sets the terms of the sale within the rules of the forum. It is then the buyers choice whether or not to proceed. When I have sold my coil buddy's both here and on UKV, they were always cheaper here because I did not have to pay PayPal's fees. I hate paying anything to Paypal if I can help it and by using F&F, the option is there for the purchaser to pay from their bank account which means that PayPal earn nothing from the transaction. If the purchaser wishes to use their credit card and therefore incurs Paypal fees then then the total end price will still be the same.

That`s fair enough Greigster, if the buyer doesn`t like or trust the seller he wont buy. I dont see a problem in adding the fees to the price (they end up as sellers costs anyway) and offering it as another option though if the buyer is a bit wary.

Yeah but people will just arrange F&F payments in private messages anyway and then the only time you will hear anything about it is when a deal goes tits up it won't prevent bad deals. The best solution is just to do as is already in place and make people aware of the possible pitfalls.

Friends and Family is exactly what it says. Even although we are on this forum most of us don't know anything about each other so why would you pay using F & F.

I can't add any more to this thread without repeating myself but my last two words on this thread are to say.

I don't think we will ever agree on this as in the previous debate.
