I can crochet but only have 2-ply wool at present and that might be a bit on the stretchy side for my Tornado. I carry mine around in a tube type spectacle case clipped to my clothing - I'm always putting it down and forgetting where! :-[

I've just had an email conversation with my son, who makes knives and sheaths and lanyard things. He reckons he could make leather ones, but would need to borrow my Riva to do a form fit. I'm still in negotiations....he doesn't live near me and I am loathe to post my Riva, 'cos I don't want to be without. I suggested I measure every bit of it and he could wittle a bit of wood in the same shape! I'll let you know if he decides to help out.... This is him - (we have different surnames cos I went back to my maiden name after getting rid of the faulty bloke.) www.bushblade.co.uk/Kath

WOW, that's a brilliant idea Kath. I wonder if we could get a bit of dowel the same size and send him that? Lolli, the ideas on the Bucko thread scared me! I've just made a case for my friend's daughters phone tonight, and that was hard enough to work out the dimensions - the thought of an extra pocket for your wine bottle and one for your crocheted pampers was almost too much. With regard to payment <serious face now> I don't want anything. For my job, I have to send a certain number of parcels each month and it gets boring sending choccie to my kids! I also get heaps of free stamps, so the postage is not an issue. I have two reels of cream crochet cotton I bought in a charity shop for 10p each, so they will keep me going for a while. With regard to making them, I am the original faffer so working these out is great fun for me. It also gives me something to do when sitting in traffic jams, and I enjoy it, so it is a pleasure to do. If you really want to give something, then please donate to a charity. In the spirit of the forum, I will suggest Chaldon Animal Sanctuary (Chrissie can give you the details) but there are many other deserving ones out there that appreciate the support. Now I'd better bugger off and get some sleep - heaps of crocheting to do tomorrow

I've been reminded of plasticine by James May making a garden out of it for Chelsea Flower Show - you could make a mold/mould of your Riva and send it to him in place of the real thing OK, Jaki, Chaldon it is scylla

Great minds and all that Jaki. I already support Chaldon via MDCC auctions on eBay, so have their pp-addie already. I always 'gift' the pennies raised. Liz (Chaldon) will be delighted - they do have lots of cats and dogs there, as well as other fluffies. So get on with it Jaki - Crocheting for Chaldon. Mine ready yet? (Only joking.)

Kath - just read your son's 'All about me' on his website. Sounds a lovely, laid back chap. You must be a proud mum. x
