Hi Peeps
Yup that about sums me up a VV. Been a smoker for 46 years and I would guess around 42 of those years a smoker of roll your own. Old Holburn and then the last 15 years Golden Virginia. My usage is around 125grms a week and still going strong.
However just recently I'm noticing the effects of all that nastiness and starting to cough first thing in the mornings and then occasionally suffer the shortness of breath. Tried kicking the habit before, even lasted 2 years one time then slipped back into bad habits again. Tried the course of tablets which I got on prescription but proved useless so now after much research I'm hitting the vamping trail in an attempt to quit the legal weed.
I should point out living most of the time in Spain it's not for monetary reasons.
I have on order the Kangertech Subox Mini Starter Kit, one litre of PG and one litre of VG. Nicotine I plan on ordering from ukflavours. I have 2x SONY VTC5 batteries to come, and some cotton bacon. Need to purchase some measuring stuff and some wire for coils, yup jumping straight in the deep end.
Not planning on going for flavours just yet, I am treating this as replacement therapy so need it to replicate tobacco somewhat, so might even go for a hint of tobacco flav if needs be.
That's about it, spending 3 parts of the year in Spain is why I'm presently stocking up as I'm due back out there in a couple of weeks, so if anyone can offer advice I'm all ears and eyes. Thanks

You won't regret your move to Vaping im sure

I smoked 25 a day for about 30 years and quit overnight as e result of vaping. Some reduce over time but most get there eventually.
Your health will improve quickly once your off the fags and you'll be amazed on how quickly your lung capacity increases plus all that coughing and spluttering will be a thing of the past.

Nearly everyone starts off trying to replicate there tobacco flavour in VAPE butmost quickly move onto more pleasant flavours and then wonder why they wanted to replicate the tobacco flavour.

You are jumping in at the deep end a little but with the advances in kit in recent months it's not quite as deep as it used to be so you'll be fine.

There's loads of knowledge and friendly folk on the forum so if you need any help do shout up and there be lots of folk only too willing to help you.

from a 20+ a day man to zero overnight nearly 6 years ago and I can honestly say I never smoked since.

My advice would be to meet up with a local experienced vaper and have a chat, an hour or 2 spent will give you the basics to get you going, with further ongoing help and back up always here.

I love Spain and spend a month or so there very year but vaping has become much harder with most of the vape shops closing down and supplies harder to get.

Paging toots while she does not live on the mainland she may be a good one to talk to about Spanish specific advice.

I smoked for 36 years . . . . come the last few years I chugged away on 40/50 a day - I never actually wanted to give up smoking because I absolutely loved it. As shameful an admission as that sounds to me now over 5 years in as an ex-smoker.

It took me a couple of weeks to be ' smoke free ' - kicking that first one of the morning was the hardest habit I had to break. The first time I woke up and didn't immediately want to spark up, I knew I could crack it with the healthier option vaping is . . . . whilst still enjoying my nicotine intake.

Take it at your own pace as what suits one doesn't another, do what feels right for you.

We've a excellent Mixology section, with some great information and many helpful Mixers only too willing to advise.

I'll be in Spain (Moraria) for the last week of Aug and the first week of Sept if you need any help with getting things working properly. I'm not a highly experienced vaper but mix my own juice and make my own coils....

Yes hence the sourcing of supplies but forgetting or not taking enough of something is bound to happen. I'm often out and about and yes rarely if ever do you see a Spaniard vaping. There was a time when a few English thought they could make a living by selling those cheap Chinese kits but I think folk are more the wiser now. In fact to be honest due to the crisis many Spanish smokers are rolling their own, whereas before the crisis I was often asked if I was smoking a cannabis joint so rare was it to see a guy rolling his own

Only advice i would give is to echo what was said earlier about flavours.
I spent ages trying to replicate smoking with various tobacco flavours, none of them quite hit the mark so i found myself still smoking the odd ciggie while vaping.
I finally decided to try out some other flavours and i was instantly off the cigs because i found vaping then to be more pleasurable than smoking was.

manonabus  and I smoked for 50+ years, but after one vape (on the kit that was available 3 years ago) have never touched a ciggie since. My only advice is to do what works for you. You can make it in to a hobby, or do it as cheap or expensive as you want. I've gone the route, if it works, it works, and avoided the 'must have' syndrome. Whatever, the very best of luck, and there are people on here that can, and will, help.

As for finding the (elusive) tobacco replacement taste, it ain't gonna happen. Most of us tried tobacco flavours, I tried many, very many, but discovered I enjoyed vaping more than smoking, like Get Off My Cloud.
